So by that metric, we did pretty good for ourselves. Good size and skating, Kings blueline is in shambles at the moment...essentially Loktionov for Ellerby indirectly.
i couldnt imagine this board's reaction if we traded a 10th overall dman for a 5th rd pick.
The Flames are the worst run franchise in the last 20 years, I never expect them to do anything right...strangest thing of all, all of my notes say that ROR has never played for the Flames before...so, I can't imagine why they are trying to get him...
Let's see ROR signs it. Then the Avs will have 7 days to match at that point.
Flames are gonna need draft picks (if this is accepted and not matched)...we're gonna need Iginla...you see where I'm going with this...?
COL should take Calgary's first and run, no doubt. Especially since it's a 2-year deal that takes him to UFA. Kind of surprised the Flames would be willing to give up a high 1st for a player that could bolt in 2 years, but I guess they figured if it were a longer deal, then there'd be a better chance of COL matching it.
Err wait, actually he'd still be an RFA after it expired. COL may yet match it. Still think they should take the pick.

Indeed, Calgary would not have a pick in the first 3 rounds if COL doesn't match it.
Minnesota signs Brett Clark...puck-mover that has done a fair job in the AHL...Wild aren't getting a lot of service from their lower-end guys, so they've sent for "help"

Well, now's GMRS's chance to get NJ back!
I'd actually almost take a shot on Olesz. Gotta be an upgrade over some of the guys in the bottom 6.
Olesz spent the majority of the year in Rockford. He's only played 6 NHL games and hasn't done squat. Nothing there to tell me he's any better than what we have.

He actually hasn't played a game this year due to a knee injury. During his time with Florida, he was a steady 25-30 point guy which is a lot better than what 4 of the bottom 6 are showing this season. If he can stay healthy, I don't think he'd be a bad pick up.
FWIW, based off his career NHL numbers his "season pace" would be 15 goals and 17 assists (32 points) over 82 games.
He's due whatever is left of $4 million in salary this season, plus a full $4.25 million next year (cap hit is 3 and a change), that's a spicy meatball to take a chance on...his injuries/production notwithstanding...
