Tried a Xingu (brazilian) Schwarzbeir st Green Forest... Really sweet for a dark style beer--like a Bohemia in the sense that it would be great for a beach session. Not bad at all. Not exceptional. I'd drink it again.

Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and say Weihenstephaner is my favorite Wheat beer. I wish it was more readily available here.

Ha, just picked up Weihanstephaner at Whole Foods, where it is readily available and cheap. Got a 16.9 oz bottle for 2.49! Bottle prices are generally solid (3.49 for all the delicious Sam Smith offerings)

I might be able to find it in some of the bottle shops, but I want to buy cases of this stuff.

Haha, I normally go to Wegman's where it's much more expensive, feel like a fool for not coming here beforeFroggy wrote:wow, that is a full $1 less per bottle than I pay here. damn. enjoy!shafnutz05 wrote:Ha, just picked up Weihanstephaner at Whole Foods, where it is readily available and cheap. Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I’ve been to the Ross location. As indicated by the fact that they still permit indoor smoking, it’s much more of a bar than a restaurant. The food was okay but not great. Nice beer selection. I remember being turned off by the large number of smokers when I was there. I haven’t been back.the wicked child wrote:Has anyone ever been here? http://www.thehophouse.com/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Smokers? Yikes. Thanks for the warning. I normal don't care if people smoke, but I don't want to feel like I'm sitting in a bonfire while I'm trying to enjoy my meal/beer.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
just tried the harpoon leviathan quad. it's their version of a belgian quadruple. definitely a keeper. it's not as smooth as my favorite quad (st bernardus abt 12), but at 11+% abv, it still goes down nice. and it was only 10 bucks for 4 12oz bottles. as opposed to 17 bucks for 4 11oz bottles of st bernardus. that is a hell of a deal.

Gluten free beer. Good not great. Has a sake type after taste due to the rice.

Tried Dogfish Head Hellhound yesterday. With the big IBU boast on the label, I figured that I would not like it at all, but I found it to be pretty tasty. Which means those expecting to be smacked in the face with hops will be disappointed, but it was a pretty smooth, well-balanced beer.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Went grocery shopping and picked up a Blue Moon summer sampler on my way out.
3 Blue Moon originals
3 Summer Ales (I love these and was going to just pick up a 12 of them)
3 Agave Blondes
3 IPAs
I had never seen the last 2 from Blue Moon before, so I was swayed to grab the sampler. I just started the IPA. It's good. It's a wheat IPA (didn't know those existed). Not as bitter as most IPAs I've had before.
I drank an Agave Blonde earlier. Meh. Wasn't great. Wasn't bad. Definitely one of the experiments that just didn't have a differentiating flavor.

Wasted cash on a 12 pack of Samuel Adams Summer Wheat. No flavor other than heavy malt. Took 10 to poker on Saturday and pawned them off for a couple of Coors Light.

Sam Adams seems to have gone down hill across the board over the last few years. The Summer beer in particular though.

Probably at the expense of their heavy advertising campaign.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
I had the Creme Broulee stout for the second time last weekend. I was borderline blackout the first time, so it was basically like the first time. That beer is ridiculous, it's more like a slightly carbonated liquor.

I have the same problem with the pumpkin beers. I have a pretty wide beer palate, but those beers are just way, way too sticky sweet for me.Kraftster wrote:The butterscotch flavor is too much/sweet for me.

Re: GIVE ME YOUR BEER SUGGESTIONS!!
Maybe Jim Cook should put some of his take back into making a quality product again. I see the 4 pack IPA and Stout for $12.00 and chuckle knowing the cost for quality is way off kilter.Troy Loney wrote:MWB wrote:Sam Adams seems to have gone down hill across the board over the last few years.
