I just can't believe they gave him 4.5 million! I am just in shock. Who is on what drug over there? I mean, really...even if he produced at last years level...4.5 million for 19 goals and 50 some odd points? Wow. Just wow.

Re: Jagr to Dallas
Someone pointed out on twitter that Jagr is going to Dallas to draw people to the building. The city's interest has drifted and he's basically going to sell tickets.

I don't have a problem with an athlete chasing dollars.
As if you wouldn't do the same.

I just don't see the need to put athletes on a pedestal and have greater expectations of humanity.
He wanted $$$ and he's going to get it. I'm sure my next door neighbor would do the same.

I don't mind it either as long as they own up to it.columbia wrote:I just don't see the need to put athletes on a pedestal and have greater expectations of humanity.

lol, I wonder if he even knows where Texas is. Kinda sad actually.....strange, strange bird.Steve wrote:It should be noted that 24 other NHL teams offered Jagr more money than the Stars, but he took this deal because he liked what the stars are "trying to do".

Re: Jagr to Dallas
how much has Jagr "damaged" his legacy since he came back? I mean, he came back and played will in PHI...and probably will do fine in DAL...apart from out right failing or injuring his way out of the NHL this year...I wonder.
He was on track to be one of the all time NHL greats...but then he left and played overseas...then came back and played pretty good. It doesn't really matter, obviously, and he is still one of the great hockey players ever but man...just think what he could have done NHL all time and record wise if he stuck it out in the NHL and maybe wasn't so crazy/random

I don't think being decent when he's old is gonna make anyone forget how great he was when he was young.

Re: Jagr to Dallas
He was better than his numbers last season. Pretty awesome at times, actually.
Dallas should be a good fit. Great supporting cast but still prime PP time and the chance to be the man.
