Maybe he will go back to New Jersey as Schneider's goalie coach

He should maybe get a hobby or go enjoy his $80 million (minus alimony) in career earnings. It seems more fun and dignified than what he's been up to lately.columbia wrote:Making money and preparing for his future.

It doesn't really bother me if athletes decide to keep playing past their expiration date (and now moving on to a different interest).
When he signed with the Blues, the big thing was that it was somehow "bad" that he didn't finish his career with NJ. He wanted to continue playing (for whatever reason), so that's good enough for me.

It's always amused me how competency in managing a multimillion dollar organization is inferred in those who oftentimes have less than a high school education simply because he is a former player.
Here's hoping Donald Brashear becomes GM/Prez of the Caps.

This always made me chuckle too. I guess it works well often enough. Ron Francis ended up with a Masters in Sports Management from NCSU so maybe part of the process is professional education as you work your way up.jmh470 wrote:It's always amused me how competency in managing a multimillion dollar organization is inferred in those who oftentimes have less than a high school education simply because he is a former player.

That's why teams employ people like Morehouse to run the business operations side of things.

Yeah, imagine if normal companies promoted employees into management. It would be chaos!!!jmh470 wrote:It's always amused me how competency in managing a multimillion dollar organization is inferred in those who oftentimes have less than a high school education simply because he is a former player.

The rather horizontal structure of a sports team makes your statement look a little silly/naive, don't you think?

Pretty classy move by the Preds tonight. Brodeur dropped the puck between them & the Blues, and the Preds came off the bench to shake his hand as he walked off.

Arizona's GM said they would be willing to trade OEL if the trade is right.
Bennett + Dumoulin for OEL. Do it.![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)

I've dealt with some executives of pretty decent stature in my career. I can't picture any of them ever making that face. Sports are funny.

that's a lot of words for having no point. enforcers do their thing, and the league still has plenty of people like rinaldo taking runs at whoever they want.ville5 wrote:http://www.theplayerstribune.com/why-we-fight/

Guy who fights sees value in guys who fight?
Get right out of town!
Where's CNN on this? I need a hologram to help me grasp the enormity of this development.

Sooo I'm trying to figure out Prust's reason for fighting at the end of a 3-0 game.... other than "he made a scene".
That **** is basically "Hey I need to look good for my coach - will you fight me, I'll give you the same down the road"
It's tough guys colluding to stay relevant when nobody has hit someone cleanly or something.

Thought this might be the appropriate place for the link as I didn't see where it fit anywhere else. I know the idea of this has been mentioned by some posters. I'm sure it has its pros and cons...

Re: Canaan's thread of NPR chaos.
Last year of his ELC with Dallas. Wildly, wildly inconsistent. Similar to Fleury's development, actually. Super athletic. Super talented. Super inconsistent. He needs anchored to his crease a bit better and become more efficient. He also as a knack for giving up that soft, back-breaking goal at the most inopportune time. It's usually something through his body. He can make it in the NHL, but he's got to start working harder for it.
