That's why I don't buy the THE WINDOW IS CLOSING argument. I mean, technically, it's already closed, as neither (for a number of reasons) will apparently ever be able to dominate like they have in the past. However, they and 58 and 29 form the basis of a totally solid team and now, well, it's just a matter of them getting the right group together in a particular year and probably a whole lot of luck. ie just like every other team out there.

Plus you could argue that Malkin is as good as he was 4 years ago. He has not lost a step when he wants to play.

100% agree, columbia. I just don't bother trying to argue that.

Crazy thing is Detroit is probably the 7th-best team in the East. And they can certainly steal a series from anyone. Zetterberg & Datsyuk are still in the conversation for best NHL player (IMO).

Boy, heck of a game Rags vs Wings. Good stuff. 1-1 at the halfway point.

Love the interference dig at the Red Wings there. They're not alone in doing that now though.

Nashville with Rinne in net gave up 2 goals on only 5 shots to the...<exasperated sigh>...Isles. But NSH gets one back with 0:02 left in the 1st. Go, PREDS!!!

Watching the Blues / Flyers game... Bortuzzo's hunting for hits & moving out of position to get 'em.

Blues're doing a good job of covering for him though, allowing him to do it.

Wish the Blues could get an insurance goal.

When the Blues scored, the crowd wasn't "Bluuuuue-in," they were "boooooin."

And as I type this, CRAP! Del Zotto what?!

Edit: And DOUBLE CRAP! Simmonds ugh.

(Triple crap if we count the Bruins conceding to Calgary so far.)

Stop sniffing glue, Preds, for crying out loud!

Bruins decide to fight for their season and tie it up vs. Calgary. If the Bruins and Panthers can pull out a Ws, then I'll be OK with whatever the Flyers do.

Philly's actually doing a pretty great job of blocking shots this game. It's like they're trying to salvage their season or something!

Is this where we say St. Louis is doomed to a 1st round exit?

Whatever. Go, Panthers. Go, Bruins.

Bruins get a critical point. Now in shootout.

Does any Bruin want to score a goal?! Looks like NO.

Finally! Bergeron in round 7.

C'mon, Bruins, end this and win. I feel so gross right now.

...Aaaaaand they blow it. Calgary gets the win.

...Aaaaaand FLA gives up a goal to Gologoski. His 3rd (!) of the season. Panthers have Dan Ellis in net.

In other news: OMG, I just can't stand you, Isles. LOSE, dammit, LOSE!

I'm talking to myself and should be committed. It's that crazy time of year! :?

FLA loses the SO. FLA gets a critical point, as well. So, all in all, the night went bleh. But it could've been worse, I suppose.

This is my second straight Flyers game...couldn't pass up Calgary being in town, as I haven't seen them play live under Hartley and how fast they play...then because of the blizzard here tickets plummeted to the price of a beer (seriously, $10, $12 tickets tonight on stubhub...free pretzel and hot dogs at concession stands...plus my first time seeing the Tarasenk-show live, which was the main draw for me)...hard to believe I couldn't go a week without see Bortuzzo again...

A couple of pretty lackadaisical games from an opponent's perspective...Flyers got the best of both teams from the last 35 minutes on or so...couldn't top Calgary, but did beat St. Louis tonight...might try my luck with Kari Lehtonen in town on Tuesday, I tried to see him last year but the rotund Tim Thomas attempted to play goalie instead...very disappointing...might give Kari another shot...I'm not sure I've seen him live since his AHL days...backup played on Dallas, backup played on Atlanta and I can't think of another time before that where our paths would have crossed...

Can you believe OV has only missed, I think, 26 games in his career? Imagine what Sids numbers would be if he was as fortunate?

Jack Edwards is unbearably annoying 99% of the time but he is actually pretty entertaining when the Bruins are playing a team I dislike. The way he takes not so subtle shots at the Flyers and spins everything in the B's favor is quite enjoyable.

Bruins, let's gooooooo.

The Flyers support system (fans, Comcast studio people, TV and radio PxP and coler, et al) are becoming unbearably positive about the Flyers' chances of making the POs.

Ryan White is stupid. He could help us.
