Steve Mason is a good goaltender.

They want McDavid, I think that's part of the plan.Gaucho wrote:The Leafs are a joke.

I know the correct thing would be to root for Flyers. I just can't do it.cma3585 wrote:Rags @ Flyers...who are we rooting for?

I can root for anything that benefits the Pens.Humperdink wrote:I know the correct thing would be to root for Flyers. I just can't do it.cma3585 wrote:Rags @ Flyers...who are we rooting for?
On the other hand, I haven't watched much hockey other than the Pens' games this year, but I did watch this one. Neither team impressed me, SUPER boring, hard to watch without having something else to do at the same time - dump & chase and throw it at the net and pray for a lucky bounce. Wheeee.

How is ovechkin not the mvp this year? Kind of a no brained in my eyes.
2 more goals again tonight.

He's a great goal scorer...an annual Richard Trophy candidate, but being MVP requires more than that. Win the Art Ross too and then I'd say yes, otherwise probably not.pens2005 wrote:How is ovechkin not the mvp this year? Kind of a no brained in my eyes.

Because there are about 10 people ahead of him that deserve it before him.pens2005 wrote:How is ovechkin not the mvp this year? Kind of a no brained in my eyes.

Re: Other NHL games 2014-2015 season
If anything, I'd give it more to Backstrom. The opposing team knows Ovechkin's one trick, and yet he continues to make the score sheet. Backstrom keeps setting him up. Not trying to take anything away from Ovechkin, though: he's probably the league's best scorer. That's about all he does.

Not in my eyes. Dude is lethal and the art ross winner won't crack 90 points.Kovy27 wrote:Because there are about 10 people ahead of him that deserve it before him.pens2005 wrote:How is ovechkin not the mvp this year? Kind of a no brained in my eyes.

One final point. Ovechkin is 1 point back from Tavares for most points in the NHL. If the votes are held today, he wins IMO.

If the votes are held today, it just adds another obstacle for it because Patrick Kane would be relevant in the discussion...pens2005 wrote:One final point. Ovechkin is 1 point back from Tavares for most points in the NHL. If the votes are held today, he wins IMO.
Ovechkin deserves to be on the radar, but he's definitely not the runaway winner...or even close to that...

Gibson's having a pretty good game against Dallas. 35+ saves. Glad to see he's playing well again.

If there's any runaway MVP this year, it seems obvious that it's Price. Whether that makes him the runaway Hart Trophy winner is another story, though.

Price and Rinne are ahead of everyone else, imo.Kraftster wrote:If there's any runaway MVP this year, it seems obvious that it's Price. Whether that makes him the runaway Hart Trophy winner is another story, though.

Sorry if this is displaying a firm grasp of the obvious, but for anyone else who hasn't really followed the Rangers lately, the guy who is filling in for Lundqvist (Cam Talbot) is 8-2. I hadn't realized they were winning at that clip without Henrik. Up 2-1 on Nashville through two periods.

And he's not even playing that well either...the Rangers win a lot of those despite some of his iffy plays...not terrible, but clearly not a starter...

Talbot has been filling admirably. He's getting more comfortable lately. When Hank first went out, Talbot was pitching save percentages in the 800's against some meatball teams. It was ugly.

Joe Thornton has 12 goals and 5 of them are empty netters. That's insane. Even the Great Cherrypicker only has 2 so far.
