See *another Modern Family win*. I haven't watched the show in a few years, so I don't know if the win was justified or not, but there were some really funny shows nominated.meecrofilm wrote:Continuity seems to reign supreme at the Emmy's.Staggy wrote:No way Aaron Paul should have won over Dinklage, I was shocked by that. The only thing that matters is that the Colbert Report won two more Emmy's.

Impressed through 11 seasons of Simpsons and there really aren't too many bad episodes after it found it's groove with stupid homer instead of mean homer. The last season I really watched was 16 so the end of the week will be interesting.

Re: TV Shows
Seeing the teaser ad for The Blacklist really got me excited for its return.
Mainly because it was all Spader and no Agent Keen.

Paul Reubens is getting a multi-episode story arc on The Blacklist this season. He was good enough in Blow, should be fun.

I've watched 3 episodes of Doctor Who (Christopher Eccleston) from 2005. It's enjoyable, but I was expecting something...different. Are these first seasons "good" seasons, or do I need to wait for a different Doctor? Which series is "The Wire" season three, so to speak?

Re: TV Shows
This was predictable. Dinklage will have many more opportunities to be nominated and win for Tyrion, Paul's run as Jesse is over. That's true of all the nominations BB got, and it's also a bit of an extra eff you to premium cable and Netflix, who dominated the nominations (again) this year. If there was nothing on network programming that was going to win, a show from cable was good enough.Staggy wrote:No way Aaron Paul should have won over Dinklage, I was shocked by that. Happens in da movies, too. Look at Return Of The King. It won all 11 Oscars for which it was nominated, and the general consensus among voters was that it was pretty much a referendum on the whole trilogy as much as it was the merits of that one film.

Dinklage had some great scenes this year, but was sort of marginalized by being locked up all season. I don't think it's a travesty that he lost to Aaron Paul

Aaron Paul was absolutely fantastic in the last couple seasons of Breaking Bad. It was well deserved.

Re: TV Shows
I know it was from season 4 of BB, but the support group scene in 'Problem Dog' was so unbelievably gut wrenching. It really encapsulated the essence of Jesse Pinkman; a fundamentally good guy, caught up in bad business, doing bad things, yet you still feel empathy for him even as he's confessing to joining the N.A. group to solicit new customers.

Jesse is a guy that cooks meth and the first time we see him he is presumably sleeping with a married woman. How is he a fundamentally good guy?

Small potatoes compared to the moral vacuum he gets sucked into.
Cooking meth and hooking up with married chicks....... shoot, I've done that. (Well, the married chick part)

Re: TV Shows
I agree, but I think that same reasoning applies to Paul. Jesse really didn't have much to do this season, he just kind of marched around catatonically except for the one episode he went bonkers. I just thought Dinklage was slightly better in his trial scene than Paul was in his submitted episode.shmenguin wrote:Dinklage had some great scenes this year, but was sort of marginalized by being locked up all season. Which episode did he submit? I know Cranston (wisely) submitted 'Ozymandias'.

Moffat took over at Series 5 with Matt Smith as the Doctor. Going to assume these are the best shows.Digitalgypsy66 wrote:I've watched 3 episodes of Doctor Who (Christopher Eccleston) from 2005. Yeah you're probably right. Dinklage's trial scene was one of the best moment's of the year in TV. Can't say the same for any singular Jesse Pinkman momentStaggy wrote:I agree, but I think that same reasoning applies to Paul. Re: TV Shows
Yeah, I don't see Breaking Bad's wins as unearned, but they were certainly "body of work" awards, much like Jon Hamm's will be next year.
