The cancellation kind of snuck up on them I think. The best was season 5, almost all the episodes were very good.

Season 8 seems like it had a variety issues. They weren't expecting it to be the least season, the original episode order was eight and later expanded to 10 (the two extra episodes don't really flow with pacing of the rest of the season), and Maggie Lawson got a show on ABC. But like I said, I enjoyed the season and really enjoyed the finale. After 121 episodes you really become invested in the characters, all of whom are likeable in their own way, and I don't have a single complaint about their stories ended. Everyone got happiness, which is really what a show like this deserves.

Season five really was fantastic. Lots of very good episodes. Looking through the episode this now, season three was also excellent. Throughout the series my favorite episodes are would have to be Weekend Warriors, Scary Sherry: Bianca's Toast, Lights Camera Homicidio, Tuesday the 17th, the first two Yang episodes, Viagra Falls, Dual Spires, and the finale. I also very much enjoyed the Cary Elwes episodes and episodes featuring Abigail Lytar because Rachel Leigh Cook looked amazing.

I'll catch it later today. I've been tremendously disappointed with this season.

I don't think we've seen the last of the Swede.
Agreed.
Spoiler:
We won't see the last of him until you see his death on screen or the series ends.
Season 2 wasn't great but season 3 was stellar. Season 4 is shaping up to be even better. It's a good sign that this show is still getting better on it's 4th season.
Spoiler:
The Swede is a great character...but the show cannot keep "dealing with him" and then bringing him back forever. Although I agree he is not gone yet
Spoiler:
I finally got to watch the episode last night, and I agree with JeffDFD. He is a great character, but you really can't keep bringing him to the brink of death and bringing him back. They either need to make him a constant at HOWs or let him die.

That said, I'm confused as to why the Mormon's turned on him when Bohannan was doing his prayer stuff with him. I had the volume turned down because I was holding my 1 year old and she was trying to go to sleep, so I don't know if he got him to say something. Can someone summarize.

I decided to re-watch The Wire this summer. I am about to start season 5, and am pretty sure that I am going to skip over all the parts with the newspaper. This is my 4th or 5th time watching the entire series, so it's not like I will be missing much.

I never really thought highly of season 4, but after watching it again, it's probably my second favorite after season 1. If I had to rank them, I'd say 1,4,3,2,5.

In a nutshell...
Spoiler:
Bohannan got him to admit to killing the real bishop with his bare hands in a river
It was probably the most fun I've had watching the show.

re: The Wire

3, 1, 4, 2, 5

That is saying a lot because I think season 4 is some of the best TV of all time. I put 3 and 1 ahead of it because of the incredible amount of things that happen in season 3 and season 1 was groundbreaking.

I just finished season four of the Wire. I'm hesitating starting the last season because I don't want it to end. I do this with books I really like, too. Humans are weird.

Married and You're the Worst.

To paraphrase John Hartigan from Sin City: There's hideous, there's hideous, then there's these two.

Spoiler:
It was earlier in the season when they were hunting the person who killed someone from the railroad. Bohannon was caught in the barn with the daughter by one of the sons. I guess it was after they had done the deed, but I thought they were caught beforehand when I originally saw that episode.

The Wilfred finale kind of bothered me. I think it was ultimately the right way to end it, but...
Spoiler:
if Wilfred was just a regular dog all along, Ryan totally gave an innocent animal cancer by making it smoke. I feel this point is extremely glossed over. It's even brought up in an episode as a joke where Wilfred was complaining about second hand smoke, and Ryan said that it wasn't second hand smoke because he chose to smoke himself. But it was just a dog all along. I don't know. This just really bothered me for some reason.

thanks -
Spoiler:
guess I missed that scene entirely -- maybe I should have let it tape more of the marathon than just the final two episodes I knew I hadn't watched. All I remember was the confrontation where Bohanon had to get his workers back from the Mormons.

Penn & Teller: Fool Us is a amazing show and I highly recommend it. Good magicians, P&T get people to think critically about magic tricks and then do their own at the end.

I tried a few episodes of it. I can't stand Amy Pohler's character to the point that the show is unwatchable to me.

I was the same way when it started, but others told me to stick with it. She's completely different in the 2nd season (1st season is only 6 episodes). She's actually fairly competent, no more complete bumbling idiot.
