He wasn't meant to be a first line winger, remember that Sid is so good no one can play with him (herp derp). He'd be money on a 4th line though, until his speed dries up. Hell, sticking him next to Sutter on PK1 would be like printing money.
The problem is, Columbus plays that heavy, Campbell Conference game...Gibbons doesn't really fit that mold...they bang and crash and cycle...and while he's a smart and quick player, it's just not really a strong match...with Boone Jenner, Brandon Dubinsky and Nathan Horton (who they never really had) all hurt...their depth has taken a hit...
If he was RHS, he would still be there probably...but with Foligno, Hartnell and Calvert all way better players on the left, there's little room...Jenner and Dubinsky can also play the left...so, it's tough sledding for him going forward as well...
He's probably high on their call-up list though...he's recuperating from an injury I believe, so maybe they're getting him some games to get back into gear...

He's a dime a dozen player. Those types of players get waived and bounce from team to team alot.
I was going to say if Shero was still in charge, we'd be picking him up. However, if Shero was in charge we would have signed him to a 3 year, one-way deal.
as a short guy, I feel bad for him. I remember being cut from a travel team because the coach thought I was too small and I was devastated. He has the heart, just not the size.
They're betting on him there...not that greatest deal I've seen, as I'm not particularly excited about the player...but he did improve quite a bit last year and playing with Doughty helped with that...I guess it's a fair deal, but I'm not sure I would have wanted my team to sign up for it...
The muzzin deal? Ew. Id have given him that for 2 years and waited to see which way he went. He could well end up worth it or he could well reveal that hes a bottom pair guy that looks good with Doughty.
