Yeah, that seems statistical noise and nothing can be drawn from it.

7 points from a playoffs spot if the flyers win tonight.

Yikes.

In the 3 point game era, 7 points is a long way to go. Especially for a team that is genuinely as bad as their record.

Rough late stages for the Canucks in Chicago tonight...up 3-1, Hawks PP goal to make 3-2, Sedin from Burrows and Sedin a short time later to go back 4-2. Then the Hawks score twice (goalie pulled for one or both) including Hossa roaring down the left wing and beating Eddie Lack with a bad goal with 55 to go to send it to OT...

OT starting now...Lack went to the wrong net to start it...that's not a good sign...

Daniel Sedin, intent on winning the game, had the 4th goal and the winner in OT...third OT winner of the year for deuces...

At a Sharks bar. Feeling kind of fortunate to be among those that are celebrating the Nabokov return / retirement celebration. Ovie showed him love at the puck drop.

Caps went from 1-0 to 1-2 in 22 seconds in the first minute of the 2nd period. Brilliant work, SJ.

Kings are only 3 points out of the playoffs (Wild is 2 points). If I'm either Calgary or Vancouver... I'm getting pretty nervous.

San Jose as well.

Watch out for the Wild. Finally figuring how to close things out... They're going to end up as another textbook case of the value of fancy stats.

Because they acquired a goaltender that didn't give up wrist shots from 45 feet out? At least not as much...

Hard to believe a goalie the caliber of Devan Dubynk could be an upgrade...but here we are...

Arcobello scored against San Jose. Good for him. Genuinely hope he succeeds there after being shifted around so much.

Also, Canucks are already up 2-0 against the Bruins, 5 minutes in. Shawn Matthias scored both. Man, the Bruins must suck to let that ever happen, even if they're away at Vancouver.

Lots of uncalled interference & such going on in the Toronto / Montreal game. Clarkson just hit Gonchar in an iffy board / interference, causing Gonchar to skate off the ice after going face-first into the boards (hitting his chin on the rail). Refs only called the penalty after Beaulieu stepped in to fight Clarkson & Gonchar went off the ice.

What is it going to take to cause the NHL to call penalties for the sake of safety?

Well, to be fair, and I know that's never what we want to be when discussing officials for some reason, but there was obviously a congress between all four on-ice officials...in the case of a major penalty, a linesman can assist in assessing penalties...

Either way, good for young Beaulieu standing up for his mentor, partner and teammate Gonchar...way to go, Beaulieu, right along with the theme of Hockey Day in Canada...

Nah, I'll fully agree & say they got it right. However, that came after a lot of uncalled interference / hitting and a previous Clarkson fight with Prust. Galchenyuk or someone was held for a full 3 seconds, pumping his skates & trying to show that he was being held. It wasn't called because MTL was already on a power play (for Clarkson's hit).

I dunno. I just see this loose calling causing a lot more injuries than if the penalties were actually called. It's just incredibly frustrating to me.
