Guys, NFL contracts aren't guaranteed. Him signing a 2 years deal means nothing

2 year deal is probably just for cap purposes.

Yeah. Signing a guy longer only benefits the team so long as its not guaranteed.

James Harrison instantly becomes second best player on defense.

I don't know if he's the second best, but Timmons, Heyward, ... ? He might very well be the third best.

@gerrydulac: Kevin Colbert declared ROLB job between James Harrison and Jarvis Jones an "open competition."

Tough to see jones having any career here (and maybe anywhere) if he can't beat out Harrison in his third year.

Colbert said Moats is starter at present on the other side.

Tuitt? Willie gay? Moats? I don't know but they're in the mix in that comparison.

Really? Moats played backup to the OLBs all last year. Willie Gay, while good, was a nickle-back in a putrid secondary for stretches of last year.

Regardless, the point is not where precisely Harrison is; the point is that we're relying on a player in a postretirement run to be an impact player.

You have the facts wrong here. Moats started 9 games, and Gay started nearly every game. Re: Gay, I believe you might be thinking of 2013, not 2014.

Re: Moats, he's a year older in terms of experience, and looked good last year IMO. He's also in his prime, and Harrison is a year older. The Steelers are prepared to give a starting spot to only one of the three of them, and its not Harrison, its Moats.

Agreed on the larger point, however.

I am reading on Twitter, Troy Polamalu will announce his retirement tomorrow.
:'( Troy got everything out of his compact body. The anthesis of an NFL player off of the field.
Many memories !

One of my favorites of all time.

You said it: Many memories! I'm going to miss him.

I remember when he was drafted, and I can't believe how 12 years went by in a blink!

I thank him and wish him and his family the best.

  Unfortunately a year or two too late. I pray he didn't do irreparable damage with all the concussions. Good Luck and I might make the trip to Canton. :fist:

Ike has to be the best player to ever come out of Swaggin' University. Which in my opinion is a way better school than Ball So Hard U.

Antonio Brown looks like he is holding out until he gets a new contract even though he still has 3 years left on his current deal. Not a good sign of things to come.

This is what happens when you have the player working for the agent, and not the other way around, imo.

On the bright side, Boykin looked good.
I was hoping they drafted him and am actually rooting for him even though he's a Stater, but another game like that and Jesse James is gonna be packing his bags.
Nice knowing ya Landry.

Ugh. Apparently Jesse James' best friend from high school died suddenly 2 days before the game. That had to be a tough game to play for the kid.

I guess it's never too early for a major injury. :( Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery, Maurkice.
