With Ms Bacall's passing, all of the icons referenced in Madonna's 'Vogue' are now dead.
Of course, most all of them were already dead when the song came out in 1990, but still.....

Re: RIP Thread
That they were all dead now, or that most of them were dead when the song came out? If the former, no - it's been plastered all over my Facebook page for the past day. In the latter, yes, that was a factoid I knew since I was in high school.

With the passing of Lauren Bacall, all of the icons named in Bertie Higgins' "Key Largo" have passed.

Re: RIP Thread
People famous from 40 years before a twenty year old song coming out all being dead isn't really that interesting to me. It's kind of like saying it's weird that all the survivors of the titanic are now dead.
RIP, though.

Kind of picking out the more recent of the events in the song (most?) Bernie Goetz? (maybe?)Sam's Drunk Dog wrote:I wonder if anyone mentioned in" We Didn't Start the Fire" is still alive.

Re: RIP Thread
Beatles were mentioned in that song so if you consider 2 of those guys still living, that would be 2. All of U-2 is alive, yes?

The following are still alive:Sam's Drunk Dog wrote:I wonder if anyone mentioned in" We Didn't Start the Fire" is still alive.
Doris Day, Sugar Ray (Leonard), England's got a new queen (Elizabeth), (Bridgitte) Bardot, (Fidel) Castro, (Bob) Dylan, Bernie Goetz.
It's been that kind of day at work.
