There are (as far as I can think of) 3, maybe 4 outcomes of NAN's claim:

1. NAN is telling the truth, he is the vig.

2. NAN is lying, and he is red and trying to buy some early amnesty.

3. NAN is lying, he's the serial killer (see #2)

4. NAN is blue, and he's being dumb.

Also wouldn't really think Hockeynut is bad because he's only made two posts, one of them being a vote. It's really early to assume or make connections from a day 1 vote this early in the game.

those possibilities exist but I think 1 is easily the most likely. why would a red or sk draw extra attention to himself by claiming vig?

As for why I said it, instead of spending days (if I lived that long) trying to figure out why the vig shot someone, I figured I'd just let everyone know I'm the vig, I didn't shoot anyone, and there are multiple killers.

I'm not a vital role, would probably do more harm than good.

If the baddies kill me, it validates my story, sheds some light on the situation, and hopefully helps.

It would also grant the seer more time to find someone if they kill me.

If they don't, then the real vig would shoot me.

I don't see a losing situation there for the village.
