Pittsburgh can no longer finish 5th overall after the Flyers loss to Columbus tonight. Here are the scenarios that are left:
--If ANA loses tonight, loses tomorrow against WPG, and PIT wins Thursday against WSH, the Penguins would move to 9th overall
--If ANA loses tonight, but wins tomorrow vs WPG, regardless of what PIT does vs WSH, the Penguins cannot finish above 8th (ANA wins tiebreakers).
--The Flyers can no longer help Pittsburgh move in the draft order. If the Flyers win against Buffalo, and Penguins lose against WSH, PIT and PHI will be tied, but the Penguins win tiebreakers.
--To move down two spots to 6th overall, the Penguins need to lose vs WSH, have Buffalo beat the Flyers, and Seattle beat LA tonight.
--If Seattle loses tonight, the Penguins could not move down to 6th. They'd be locked into 7th or 8th depending on their game vs WSH and the BUF/PHI game.
Tonight's updates:
--Anaheim gave up the tying goal with 21 seconds left. 2-2 and heading to OT. Wild gaining at least one point secures playoffs for them. In a strange but not strange move, they put Fleury in net for OT (last regular season home game for Flower). Gustavsson had played the rest of the game.
-->DUCKS LOSE in OT. A loss to WPG tomorrow and PIT win vs WSH, and Penguins will move up to 9th.
Anaheim has 79 points with the OT loss so the Penguins will be lower them with a loss to Washington.
Am I missing something with the tiebreaker? Does ROW count here? If they lose, that will keep them at 78 points and 33 wins.
Seattle wins and gets 78 points and 36 wins.
Philadelphia beats Buffalo in OT, they both have 78 points. The Flyers have 34 wins and Buffalo 35 wins.
Tie breakers are:
- Games played (irrelevant, all teams will have 82)
- Regulation wins
- Regulation plus OT wins
- Total wins
- Mutual results
- Goals scored
Pens losing to Caps would mean 23 RW, 32 ROW, 33 W.
BUF can move ahead, but they need to gain a single point on us
SEA can move ahead as well, they need to gain two points on us.
PIT can move ahead of ANA if they gain a single point on them.
#6-9 is the range.
Though Seattle currently losing 4-2 to LA
