They have 5 wins in regulation. Last game was one of them. I am ok with same lineup.

I am a big Puljujarvi supporter.

Edit. Wins are bad this year. Play Puljujarvi to increase his trade value. He should be in the lineup.

Weekes saying Hoglander is linked to the Pens in trade talks.

Makes sense. Fits the bill. We shall see.

I honestly think JP is just the kind of player you try to hang onto. Extend him to say 1.0 - 1.2M on a short deal. He's not old, pretty fast, shouldn't break the bank and is kinda worth it. Plays pretty well for a cheap dude. He does need some special teams time.

Despite being in and out of the lineup and being on the shortest leash I could imagine, I do think he would want to stay. Pens took a chance a flier on him in the AHL, upgraded him back to the NHL and he has a career again.

There will be some room at the inn, when forwards get traded. I can't for example imagine Glass gets a QO which would be at the current cap hit of 2.5M. Nieto will be gone.

And Sullivan needs to really not be coaching this team for anything to count.

(Also, unless you can trade Puljujärvi somehow for a top 4 defenceman...)

Great. We can dress Hoglander-Poulin-Puljujarvi as our 3rd line and call it the nacho line, because they'll all be on the shortest Sullivan leash ever.

Sad thing, that might actually be a good third line, depending on Poulin can improve enough and limited games and minutes don't count.

Serious question, other than opportunity and age, what's the difference between Hoglander and Puustinen? Just reading the scouting reports, they seem like the same player.

I have a feeling there's going to be a 3-way deal that includes two of the following teams: Blue Jackets, Canucks, Flyers and/or Golden Knights, which we have been scouting as of late.

Hoglander shoots more, and consequently Hoglander scores more. Puustinen averages 1.47 shots per game over his career; Hoglander averages 1.75 shots per game.

Hoglander scores at a 17 goal per 82 game pace; Puustinen scores at an 8 goal per 82 game pace.

Pretty much as simple as that. The one problem with Hoglander's great season last year...he had a 20% shooting percentage. He's not going to do that very often, and it is showing this year.

I’m trying to think of any trade scenario that actually helps this team other than getting a mid 1st round pick. I think no matter what they do this won’t be a 2nd round playoff team. I think at best they go from a top 5 pick to just missing the playoffs or a first round loss.

Same. I don't see how he adds much.

We have a much greater need to improve the blue line right now anyway

Can't improve the blue line much with Letang, Karlsson, and Graves here. 20M+ on 3 players with mediocre play at best.

That's why some of em need to go.

But also not playing Grzelcyk would be nice.

I would think/hope the Pens would have interest in D man Pettersson from Vancouver. 6'2 20 years old. Plays with a bit of an edge. Seems like he's ready to play in the league now. Goes with what KD is looking to do. Bring in younger players who can contribute now.

Hoglander I would have interest in too, but he was much more enticing when he was playing on his ELC salary.

Daemon Hunt is a 22 year old 3rd round pick from 2020. He's played 13 NHL games to date. Waiting to hear the picks.

Update:

OK, 1st, 2nd and a prospect not in the top 10-15 of MIN prospect depth. Glad Penguins didn't make a similar deal.

I would've liked Jiricek, but that's a serious price tag.

Unrelated: Daemon Hunt is probably the coolest name I've seen for a hockey player.
