Re: Official GDT: Pens @ Devils 4/11/25

One thing has become obvious. Boston ownership does not care one bit how badly Boston wonder-boy Sullivan does with this team. The Pens could miss the playoffs for ten more years straight, and he won't be gone until he decides to go. :face:

As someone who reads this board every day... absolutely best upgrade ever. Since only a few posters ever bother to trim quotes to keep things relevant, this makes threads so much more readable.

Thank you very much.

Jets's prospect Chaz Lucius retires from playing professional hockey. Pretty much every season since his draft year was cut short because of injuries related to EDS. A shame on all fronts.

Pens hold the rights for his brother Cruz, acquired from Carolina in the Guentzel deal.

That really ...

Amazing accomplishment, yes, but some perspective is in order in throwing out comparisons to Gretzky.

One less game... and 1239 less points. Ovechkin has 1618 total points in his career thus far, and still trails Gretzky by 1239 points. That is a staggering number that is still largely overlooked ...

I did a deep internet dive looking for him a few years ago. Thankfully no obits found. I found an address and phone that likely were his, but never had the nerve to cold call someone that was just a message board acquaintance.

I also found a facebook page that I believe was his that did not have ...

So, your win tomorrow mentality entails punishing Crosby if he dares to help win a game today. Yeah, no.

True generational talents (Orr, Gretzky, Lemieux, Crosby) are *extremely* rare, and this franchise has been impossibly statistically lucky in having several already, along with numerous players ...

Impossible to say. Certainly next years draft looks more promising. However, there is no way to know, at this point, where NYR's 2026 first round pick will fall. That is the great equalizer...

"The question becomes, what is in the water in Pittsburgh." Answer? Mike Sullivan.

"To me, it seems that many players cannot play Sullivan's system." Yet, those are the players we have. Somehow, top coaches throughout history have managed to make adjustments to "their system" to maximize the ...

Re: 4 Nation Face-Off. Your interest to watch?

Sullivan "coached" a stacked all star team to the "playoffs" in a four team league (a team that was pretty much established as a favorite before it even bagan), which 50% of the participants reached. The end result matched the success he's had since the Pens last playoff series win in 2018 ...

I kind of love that NHL gamecenter shows OT starting with both teams with 8 skaters and a goalie. That would certainly change things up.

Re: 4 Nation Face-Off. Your interest to watch?

This poll leaves out the most important reason. While it is no Olympics or World Cup, it seems infinitely better than the farce of an All-Star week the NHL has presented in recent years. I do think it would have been better to add a few more teams so that so many players were not ineligible to even ...

If he shows that he can't hack it in the AHL any better than the NHL, then they should send him to Wheeling. There is no way should he be taking starts from Larsson or Murashov with that kind of performance.

I've seen a few reports that his alarm system was not on, and the safe was left open. If this is true, at best it points to him being incredibly lax at security, which is better than alternative of someone close actively working against him.

Just my opinion, but not listening to offers on any and all players is bad business. It's stupid, but bad business is a more friendly way to put it. Trading "one of Rust or Rachel" is still a soft rebuild. Unless you're moving your most valuable assets, you're continuing to kick the can down ...

Re: 2024-2025 Season Random Penguins Fodder

As Sullivan has gotten more comfortable in his position on this team, he has gotten infinitely more complacent. The only thing he recognizes in *new* additions to the team, at this point, are players willing to play the NHL 'plugger' style that defined his playing career. Veteran (on other teams) or ...

And I do get it... it doesn't hurt the team in the long run. It's just such a massive 'meh' acquisition when it would be really nice to see the team do something, anything, that would actually improve the team. Now or the future. This is the definition of a tread water move (oh, Pettersson is out a ...

That's the point. He doesn't improve the team, and he's not going to propel them into the playoffs. He's going to help them continue to tread water until more bodies are healthy and then he will be yet another liability towards the contract limit. They need to be moving out dead-weight contracts ...

Also a known quantity that does not make the team better, and is unlikely to do so in the future. He was nowhere near a Pettersson replacement the first go-round, and nothing indicates he is any better suited for it now.

Now if it comes with a move to unload Graves or Grz, that would be an ...

Doing it for years does nothing to deflect the ego factor, nor the self-promoting. We get it... you're there. I'm old, get off my lawn, etc. Again, just give the information. Probably didn't help that it was re=quoted multiple times in this thread, but the sentiment remains.
