Any chance Dubas makes a run at him?
The only way I’d do this is if they took Jarry and Eller/Hayes to even out the money…
And Graves too

Re: 2024-2025 Season Random Penguins Fodder

I would fault Dubas for having Nieto on the roster that would even allow Sullivan to play him over a better player. His contract can be buried in WBS, I don’t see him as on of the top 15 forwards at all so bury him.

Re: Surprised Crosby has not extended yet

I'm really starting to wonder if Sid is in a wait-and-see mode. He wants to see where the team performs before he decides what to do. I could see him waiting to see how the year goes. If they are bad, he might leave, but he could also ask for more money. If he wants to stay in Pitt while rebuilding ...

Re: Surprised Crosby has not extended yet

Is there any downside to Sid signing an 8 year deal with an AAV of about $6-7 million or even $8.7 million and everyone knows full well he might not go past 4 years and front load it? The dead cap space if he retired early won’t matter because this team won’t be spending to the cap at that point for ...

Re: Penguins acquire Rutger McGroarty for Brayden Yager

Won't he be ecstatic when he comes here and Sullivan refuses to give him a chance and then he realizes what REALLY not getting a fair shot looks like. Only thing I can see that would support him not being in the NHL pretty much all next year is that he has the same agent as Sid and Sid does have a ...

Re: Penguins acquire Rutger McGroarty for Brayden Yager

Ok so where's the rub? Why would another team supposed 1 for 1 prospect trade and give up a guy who usually supposedly universally regards as overall better and closer to being ready for an inferior talent in every way? I mean, unless McG didn't want to sign or play in WPG? Only reason I could ...

Re: Cody Glass to PIT

Was Frasca using up one of the 50 contracts? If yes then nothing wrong with this deal, if we are even closer or at the limit then that’s not good for waiver claims in October. Cap space still isn’t a big problem for small moves but unless a big contract goes out another one isn’t coming back in but t ...

So Rempe is taking fighting lessons from Laraque. Ok. So when someone is that nuclear in a fight the other guy won’t drop the gloves. And that’s not the issue with Rempe, it’s he constantly throws dirty hits. The only thing this will do now is make his team mates answer for his crap and everyone inst ...

Re: 2024-2025 Season Random Penguins Fodder

I think we see how some guys look after camp and preseason to make a decision on Pettersson and if there’s a market now. Pickering has put the work in to bulk up, could he step into an NHL spot? It’s going to be good he can play in WBS this year but if he impresses early they could easily pull the tr ...

Karlsson won’t get moved until he has one more additional season unless a team really wants him and give up a lot with no retention.

Re: 2024-2025 Season Random Penguins Fodder

Now that the dust has settled a bit on free agency, it seems pretty clear to me that Dubas has shifted to rebuild mode. Last summer, he made the big roll of the dice by getting Karlsson and to a lesser extent Smith and Graves to see if the team could get one last shot at a Cup run. It didn't work ...

Was looking through the list of guys unsigned forwards and under 30. Only 2 names left that stand out are Filip Zadina and Liam Foudy. Zadina turns 25 and was an 8th overall pick of Detroit, Foudy 18th overall by Columbus and turns 25 in February. Both players can skate, both had offense in Juniors ...

Re: Random Penguins Fodder

Thinking about Sid’s next contract, is there any negative for going 8 years, $50 million from the Pens side? It’s essentially 5 years, $10 million for what I expect him to actually play but could see him go to the full 8 if he wanted to and is able because he’s that driven. But this lowers his cap hi ...

Re: Random Penguins Fodder

With Aho and Grzelcyk we really don’t need Graves. Really need to get out of the contract and at this point moving him for an equally bad contract for a forward who hasn’t worked out would be worth it to take a chance.
