If this game didn’t matter I’d give Ned the green light to go for goal instead of taking the icing.

Flyers have quit the dilemma tomorrow. Win and it helps the Pens (or Wings). Lose and it helps the Caps.

But now the odds of Sullivan getting fired are close to 0%IntangibleBeer wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 9:38 pmIt will suck, but the Penguins put themselves in this position.

Yeah, on the one hand, it does suck for them to have played so well and piled up so many points down the stretch only to miss out by a point or two. But they put themselves in this position with all the blown leads, awful PP, awful 3v3 play, etc.IntangibleBeer wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 9:38 pmIt will suck, but the Penguins put themselves in this position.

1) Miss playoffs
2) Don't get a Top 10 pick
3) No chance of Sullivan getting fired

Not sure that I agree or follow that. It’s not like he wasn’t the coach for disaster of a season.DelPen wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 9:39 pmBut now the odds of Sullivan getting fired are close to 0%IntangibleBeer wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 9:38 pmIt will suck, but the Penguins put themselves in this position.

All they had to do was beat the lousy Hawks on opening night.

Wings just won it. I watched the last 10 minutes. I have to tell you, a the wings were down two goals with about 8 mins left. A fan throws an octopus on the ice and it takes 5 minutes to clean up. Then, another fan throws an octopus on the ice. And another 5 minutes. They get the octopus but then an ice girl has to go out and clean up the ice with a shovel. The whole thing is a giant 10 minute timeout for the wings. Complete BS!!!
Should be a penalty 100%

Do the Pens have the tiebreaker against both Detroit and Washington?

Yeah, but that’s consistent with how the NHL does things. I still haven’t forgotten or forgiven the rat throwers in that conference final series nearly 30 years ago.lemieuxReturns wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 9:47 pm Wings just won it. Decent effort defending to close it out in the 3rd Period.Didn't give the Preds any good looks.
Sid went out from the start of this game and set the tone.He was all over the ice.
Karlsson had a strong game,he was a difference maker with his Offensive Play and Skating.
Ned with a steady perfornance.Never looked like he was going to give anything late.
DOC and Bunting both were strong. The continued solid play from Shea-St.Ivany was a big plus again.
Going into tomorrow night needing "help" is completely the fault of giving away the countless opportunities to have been sitting safely in a Playoff Spot already.
The Stretch Run was excellent, with little margin for error they stepped it up.Had we seen any semblance of a functioning PP,reasonably competent 3rd Period Defensive Efforts or finding a way to get 1 or 2 more Points given away with the horrendous OT Play this isn't even close to a discussion.
10 OT Losses,7 blown 3rd Period Leads,31st Ranked PP..For close to 70 Games this Coaching Staff did not find a way to address these issues.
Sid was magnificent-played every game,42 Goals and 90+ Points, deserving of MVP Consideration.Ned bailed them out with his outstanding Goaltending in nearly every game down the stretch.Rust,DOC and Eller all were strong.Bunting was a big time player for them.Just a shame not enough of the rest of this Roster could give the Pens what they needed to be looking at another Non Playoff Season.

If we would have beat Detroit in regulation we would be in the wildcard spot right now since we own the tiebreaker. It's like they didn't know that math and severity of the situation by giving up that 2 goal lead late like that.
Now we hope for Philly and Montreal to come through tomorrow!
