Surprised Sullivan hasn’t swapped Rust and Rakell by now.

In fairness, they've been doing it for the last 3 games

This might be the first Dubas loss where two players he signed that were questionable **** the bed.

I never want to see Graves in the lineup again. We have enough defensemen who’re better.

The Caps manage to win yet another game this year where they're badly outplayed for most of the game but still get a W some how.

I don’t know how the Pens can come out flat against the Caps.
Jarry giving up that Wilson goal off the bat was a shot to the gut.
I would start Ned against Boston

Re: Official GDT: Pens vs Caps 1/2/24
A no show 15 Minute 1st Period,2 Bad Goals(1 terrible) allowed by Jarry, who looked unsettled from the start.
3rd Period with 2 PP Chances to get it tied and did nothing at all.Another game with Points lost in the Standings from this unit.
Graves dismal play in the 1st Period was a big factor in this loss.
The effort and comeback was there after the 1st Period but didn't get in front of Kuemper in the 3rd nearly enough.
The 4th Line had too much ice time, specifically Carter. Not going to get much when he is out there that much late in games.
Sully needed to go with Ned and stop going with the Goalie Carousel. This wasn't all on Jarry but Ned was outstanding against the Isles and should have been the guy.The terrible starts and late PP failures to take advantage in close games are continuing to hurt this team and will be the reason they don't make the Playoffs

Re: Official GDT: Pens vs Caps 1/2/24
A game like this really has me pointing the finger squarely at Sullivan. The team no-showed in the first period. He goes with Jarry when Ned is playing lights out, and the team needs every single point especially against a division rival. The system where seemingly every new player looks as lost as the guy he replaced. Finally, the inability to get this power play loaded with first ballot HOF’ers to even fire at league average is inexcusable. He’s gotta go now if for no other reason than to make a change. What’s the point of hanging on to him longer?

Sully is just full of s..t as always with his comments, he praised Pusty after his first goal, then played him less and less.. He was solid and productive player with getting points in 6-7 games, then he barely played anymore, 7-8min max!? Tonight even less than Harkins lol! Sully is really a *****bag..Zalapski33 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2024 9:26 pmPuustinen has good instincts, generates decent chances for his Line mates and rarely is out of position defensively. No reason for this.
Jarry and Sullivan are just both need to go..
What to do with Graves? Maybe sit him for couple of them.. he is skating disaster, game in game out, he is costing us goals,points..

Re: Official GDT: Pens vs Caps 1/2/24
Jarry and Graves lost the game for them. Have to start Ned next game and shelter Graves and his even strength minutes while Sully and Reirden coach em' up!
Karlsson looked great last night. He hasn't skated out of the zone like that in a while. When he's on he's a one man breakout. He needs to do a lot more of that. Z took that penalty a couple games ago and got scratched the next game. Wonder if the same happens to Puuus, the shine is wearing off the Puuus in Sully's eyes.
Also the power play is now like 3 for their last 27. Still haven't figured it out. Ridiculous that we are almost at the halfway point of the season and we have like a 28th ranked power play. How much longer until some type of changes are made somewhere?

Power play starts working when Pustinen on it. So when Rakell and Rust return he doesn’t even sniff the second unit, let alone the first. Tenure > youth I guess. The best players, not the right players.

Outside the first period, it was actually a very well played game.stonewizard51 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 9:23 am I don't have those streaming service. Glad I missed it.

Re: Official GDT: Pens vs Caps 1/2/24
I've been wondering if Karlsson is "allowed" to make those one-man type rushes, or if he's not allowed because that's part of Sullivan "teaching a 33 year old Norris trophy winning defenseman" how to play defense.
I totally agree he needs to do a lot more of that...especially when the 3rd and 4th lines are out there. Let him drive some play like he's done his whole career.

Re: Official GDT: Pens vs Caps 1/2/24
Thought they would start the 3rd with the change. I was hoping Karlsson would be shooting for goals on the power plays.
End of the game, they didn't have puck luck. Really had the chances. First time in 5 years both Sid and Alex O scored in a game.
On again, off again Jarry.
