Letang’s tied Mario for team record but Mario had 6 three times.

Another typical Jarry blow out or shut out this year.

A historical game for Kris Letang. Was the best player on the ice and made it look easy.
Malkin with his best game in a long time.Effort and decision making was excellent by Geno.
The step up in intensity in the 2nd Period was impressive.Pens forecheck and pressure was dominant.
Jake with 2 nice goals,so good to see Puustinen get his 1st and Rakell looked decent.Cannot believe Sid didn't get in in this.
7 Goals in a Road Win is a good night.Easy Shutout for Jarry, only negatives were Graves poor play and,of course, the PP.

Mario had 6 assists, 4 times. Probably v the sharks.Zalapski33 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 9:57 pm I believe Mario had a 6 assist game back in the 95-96 season and likely a couple more.Syl Apps Jr. might have done it,Coffey and Francis too.
Letang with an all time night.

Wow... where the hell did this effort come from?
Isles looked like they were standing still that entire second period.

I am asking the same question. Post Christmas, I could see a beat down of the Penguins, or a single point victory.
Congratulations(!!!!!!) to Letang and all contributures for the win.
Really have no interest in hearing from the coaching staff. You are safe for another day. blah blah blah blah blah, team effort, blah, blah blech... get to our game as planned... sullivan's brain explodes. T2

Letang with Marioesqe game!? Damn,6 assists is rare in modern age.. really happy for Puustinen 1st! But why the hell he played only 10min? Only Zohorna and Harkins with less minutes.. god damn Sully! Even if Rust returns, Puustinen must stay.. Send Harkins down and Big Z and DOC go line lower..

With the defense finally set with 7 players we can carry 13 forwards when everyone is healthy. Puustinen has to be one of them. We will be about $245k under the cap with everyone back and swapping Puustinen with Shea from what we had opening night.Pens4Life wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 4:21 am Letang with Marioesqe game!? Does this cancel out the pathetic 0-7 loss to the Leafs?

Maybe all these old guys needed was three days off. The last two times we had at least three days off we have nice wins. On the negative side looks like this could make Sully safe for at least a while longer.

To me it does. That loss in Toronto had a lot going against getting a win anyways. Beating the Isles at home, chasing their goalie, shutting them out, and making history at the same time was great to see. I hate the Isles a lot more than the Leafs.Badger Bob wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 7:36 am Does this cancel out the pathetic 0-7 loss to the Leafs?

Any news on Pulujarvi and if the Pens will extend him a contract? If so who does he replace in the forward group or do we ship out Ludvig?

I dont know but I just watched his goals from the 21/22 season and almost all of them came from within 2 feet of the front of the goal. He just parks himself in front. I am wondering if this is a possible answer to the PP problems.Pensfan4life8771 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 3:26 pm Any news on Pulujarvi and if the Pens will extend him a contract? Have to see if Puljujarvi can recover from his double hip surgery. But if he's healthy, he certainly is a top 9 forward on this team. Definitely worth the PTO to take a look at him. He's clearly not close to being game ready, but at least Dubas is getting a private sneak-peek to see how far along he is.

That definitely is something we need. But Puustinen should not come out of the lineup so that leaves O'Connor or Accari to sit if Pool Party plays. Comnsidering Nieto is coming back at some point, a forward would have to be traded or waived, right? I take Puustinene in a heartbeat over Pool.

I'd trade Nieto if there was a taker.Sams_Dog wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 4:53 pm That definitely is something we need. I'd trade DOC if I had a crystal ball and knew there was an 80% or better chance Puljujarvi could play 100-200 games for the Penguins.
Taking the injury portion out of the equation for a minute, Puljujarvi would be a very solid 3rd line player, and has the skillset to not look out of place should he need to move up into the top 6. If you want him to be the 4th overall pick and put up 25-30 goals and 60-70 points...then you'll be disappointed.
I still thing there is upside for him (taking injury out of the picture for a moment) now that he can go somewhere without the pressure of being a former top 5 overall pick. He didn't do much with Carolina, but, I don't really know when or how long his hips have been an issue. Throw last year out the window for a moment...over an 82 game season in 20-21 he was on pace for 22 goals; in 21-22 he was on pace for 17 goals. That's solid 3rd line production.
Those highlights show he is good around the net. He doesn't need to be Hornqvist standing in the goal crease, but he has size and even from the mid-slot, he seems to have good hands in tight around the net.
I'm rooting for him to work out, but I have no expectations right now.
