Penguins vs Oilers: Pre-game talk

Postby FLPensFan on Wed Feb 13, 2019 11:14 am

Well, well.....some miracles can happen. No, it's not the miracle we all dream of, but, maybe it's a start towards getting there.

What is it I speak of???? Dominik Simon appears to be a healthy scratch tonight. ZAR back in, Blueger back in and on the 3rd line.

Guentzel-Crosby-Rust
Pearson-Bjugstad-Kessel
Blueger-McCann-Hornqvist
Wilson-Cullen-AstonReese

Dumoulin-Letang
Riikola-Johnson
Pettersson-Ruhwedel

I don't have a problem with Simon per se, but, I also don't think his play at times is above getting scratched. This shows that, maybe Sullivan is finally starting to get it.

Good to see some Bleu Cheese on those wings.

I like em at center though. Maybe once Geno is back they'll scratch Cullen for him.

Lol jk.

Blueger deserves to be playing, so that is good.

I wonder why JJ is always playing RD. Put Riikola on RD and try JJ on LD?

If I had to choose right now between..

Simon and ZAR
Simon and Blueger
Simon and Wilson

Simon eats nachos. Just not doing anything noteworthy with his icetime.

• He has recorded precisely one shot on goal in eight of his past 11 games.

from after the TB game.
I'm hoping the big match up between McDavid v Sid turns into the Phil Kessel show.

For those with the Athletic~ more on Phil.

now if only he would scratch Johnson.... Oh wait he actually can't now even if he wanted cause 2 defenseman injured, one traded away a couple weeks ago.

top pair gonna have to play well over 30 minutes tonight.

Sullivan fake out. Aston-Reese will be “close, but not quite ready” tonight.

I'm no fan of Simon but what has Wilson done this year to deserve to be in the lineup?

I'm not a fan of Wilson over Simon, but GW has shown a bit of a pulse of late. Simon's been invisible. I think DS could come back better if given a few games off.

Maybe someone started pronouncing his name differently. It has been known to degrade performance. (Sherry )

Apparently, he and Malkin made up the 4th defense pair during line rushes today. According to Bradford:
Simon appears to be odd-man out with Schultz taking D rushes with the suspended Malkin.
