Nice effort Geno. I thought he was talented?

My God. DeSmith is a reactive goaltender. Not going to be good in shootouts.

And our 2 "big guns" don't even bother trying to score on Niemi.

Malkin's shootout attempt sums up the game he had.

If you can't beat Montreal, you aren't very good.

Really didn't deserve to win tonight. Got away with a point and a few stretches of a couple of minutes where we looked okay.

The rest of it you can lump in with the other MTL game.

Thought the same about Sid. Niemi must have really scared them in practice last year for the entire team to just refuse to shoot on him all night.

They're playing like they're trying to get Sully fired. Absolutely no life in that shootout.

Sprong's P/60 Has got to be pretty good. I haven't seen anything egregious that warrants his minimal usage. Sully needs to wise up.

Niemi early years (wiki): "Niemi played junior-level hockey for Kiekko-Vantaa from 1998 until 2005, where he also worked part-time as a Zamboni driver and later had his number retired."

Some amusement after a lackluster performance.

Is there an advanced stat for the # of Sully grey hairs caused by #71?

I guess the Habs are the garbage team that's going to give the Pens a hard time this year. See: 2017-2018 Red Wings

4.14, 3rd on the team behind Malkin and Kessel. Minimal issues here and there, but as you say, no huge mistakes that warrant sitting the bench.

And, while it wasn't horrible by any means, I thought this game wasn't as good for Riikola. Had a few questionable pinches, and didn't get a few bounces he did in game 1. He was solid, but, his game overall against Vegas was better.

Welp.

I'm going to the game on tuesday, so hopefully this motivates us to get a win for me!

Does anyone have a favorite close-ish, cheap-ish place to park? $20 garages are lame.

Lot on the corner of Miltenberger and fifth is $5 and in my experience the easiest way out of the city if you're going east. It dumps out on the side street thus escaping fifth Avenue traffic. You'll have to walk a few blocks but it's super easy to get out of the city

Really starting to take a hard look at Sullivan and his stubbornness as the reasons for this crap play.

I do believe some of the Bylsma "my way is invincible and I'm never wrong" attitude is starting to creep into Mike Sullivan. I know I sound like a broken record or a Sprong apologist, but, I'm watching him closely and I'm just not seeing mistakes out there, positioning or with his play. Simon has taken a few bad penalties in games, but, I'm not really a fan of Mike Sullivan's player usage/management so far this season. Brassard isn't showing me much up there with Crosby. Simon and Sprong benched. Overusing Letang and Dumoulin through 2 periods with only 5 defense.

And oh look, Geno caused ANOTHER penalty.

I agree.. Also Im very satisfied with DeSmith in the goal, improvement over Murray.. but we are allowing too many shots per game

All I've seen written down is athe dreaded lower body injury. Yeah ya think ?? He's listed as day to day.

IHMO the way he went down it looked like a knee/ankle combo. Either way it didn't look day to day. If I had to guess I would say LTIR.
