Dupuis, Sutter, Glass, Jokinen, Adams on the PK. Do we need another PK forward?
3rd line Jokinen-Sutter-D'Agostini then? Glass-Vitale-Adams 4th? We are at max cap now pretty much with a 20-7-2 split on the roster with Jeffrey and Bortuzzo unsigned.
Neither would pass waivers, Niskanen or Jokinen need moved for cap space.

Seth Rorabaugh @emptynetters 3m
At $7M, Tuukka Rask & fellow Finn Pekka Rinne have the largest cap hits for goaltender in the NHL. Henrik Lundqvist behind them at $6.875.

We can be 10% over the cap going into the season. Honestly i would rather put Nisky on waivers in October than Jeffery. I would trade Bortuzzo or Engelled before placing Bortuzzo on waivers. I think Nisky have enough value at his current cap hit for some team to take him most likely for a draft pick given the D'Agostino signing.
Wouldn't be surprised to see a few more longshots get a chance on this roster especially on 2 way contracts. He was the best of all of our low salary moves so far this summer.

I hope we hang onto Bortuzzo. He reminds me of a young Rob Scuderi. Now, we do already have an old Rob Scuderi, but still hate to see him go. I think he could be a good stay-at-home compliment to some of the more offensive d-men we'll have coming up in the future. I would certainly much rather have Bortuzzo than Engelland.

His agent is smart enough to take a look at the Pens cap space; given his actions, I'd say that he plans to either lose or have the Pens walk away.

We have lots of Bortuzzo's or better in the system. Time to offer on Engo like deal or trade his rights.

That's a good PK'er list, and then add in Sid and Geno for the final 20-30 seconds (if possible) and they're fine.

Trade Nisky and Jokinen to free up cap space, re-sign Morrow...
Kunitz Crosby Dupuis
D'Agostino Malkin Neal
Morrow Sutter Bennett
Glass Vitale Adams
Jeffrey
With Morrow and Bennett getting a few top-6 shifts here and there.

To be fair, Bort could probably earn a little more elsewhere. He even took a small paycut last offseason.

Based on what? To be fair he's a fringe (being generous) NHLer.

They will sign him to a 2year 1.4mil deal or something comparable before arbitration comes around.

Bortuzzo has (some) potential; Engelland has none.

Indeed. I remember back when people on this board used to throw "Scuderichar" insults at Rob Scuderi, and he turned into a stay-at-home defenseman who was good enough for the Pens to re-sign after earlier leaving for a $4+ million salary in LA. (Remember, Scuderi also has one more Stanley Cup ring that does Sidney Crosby).

Based on other teams willing to pay (and play) him more.
