He was certainly never formally offered that, because we would have heard about the penalties levied against the Stars by now if he had.

Where was the Stars rumor linked to Rossi?

I was wondering the same thing... to manage a website like this, you would actually need to source the failed rumor.... otherwise, aren't you doing the same thing as you're suggesting Rob Rossi does?

Guys like this are why I stay away from things like twitter. "The pens MAY be looking to trade neal or kunitz". Yeah, they also MAY be looking to donate a prospect to the chinese space program to be the first hockey player on mars. Hundreds of people with no sources making up a bunch of crap and somehow getting paid for it. I can stand the wait until something actually happens.

Now THIS would be a great rumor. I'd respect Rossi if he came up with something as imaginative as this.

Rossi said Pens/Letang discussing contract extension today. I would think this is true.

I wish every journalist/blogger/reporter had such a website. Its one thing to share a rumor, but if its way out there, please please please dress it up for what it is. If its something grabbed off some other unconfirmed site, link to it, don't make it appear more than it is.

The best part about his rumors is that they are all unconfirmable

Because under the CBA rules, the Stars can't offer Malkin anything because he's still under contract with Penguins through next season. If it was July 1st or 5th next season and there was no contract between Malkin and the Pens, then the Stars can offer that ridiculous contract to him.

So, to answer that question, the offer never happened so there is no way that Malkin could even turn it down.

Rob Rossi ‏@RobRossi_Trib 9h
#TribHKY no precedent for Letang; no interest in moving Neal from #pens

So now he's refuting his own rumors about the possibility of trading Neal.

He's a **** idiot.

Rossi didn't start the Neal garbage. I believe it came out of the bastion of journalistic integrity that is the Ottawa Sun.

This Rossi website is great. Keep it going. I don't even care if you make stuff up, because Rossi still probably said it when he was out at a bar or something.

So he gets paid to follow the team every day and his sources are out of town columnists?
That's hardly an endorsement of his reporting skills and journalistic integrity.

I never said he was perfect, but if someone is going to bag on him, it should at least be for something he actually did. And while I agree that it's a ridiculous notion, he's not the only person commenting on it:

Hmm, trade a 40-goal stud top-line winger signed at $5,000,000 per year...so you can then sign a top (but defensively absent-minded) D-man to $7,500,000 or $8,000,000. Yeah, that dog don't hunt.

The definition of power forward gets looser every day. In the last few days, i've seen Neal, Bobby Ryan, and Rick Nash referred to as power forwards.
