I am not extremely comfortable with the Ratcliff suspension. He just inserts the TRD engine. It's not like Wolfe who installed the rear suspension.

Do the CCs, etc really have any way to notice/inspect the engine that closely? What are you honestly supposed to do if TRD makes the (albeit small) error?

Stenhouse's first championship was split with Rouch's 60 car as well.

didn't see any of Richmond, and my wife's favorite driver wins. What an odd top 5, with Logano, Bowyer, Montoya and JBurton.

The race was a pretty boring snooze fest for the first 300 laps. Then, pit strategy determined the remainder of the race. Get tires, or you sink, as everyone should have remembered from Kyle Busch's fall race last year, which cost him a Chase berth.

JPM had speed all day; I wouldn't have minded him winning. Kurt Busch also ran up front with Kenseth, Bowyer, and Kyle Busch. In the end, Harvick's tires won him the race. He pit by himself at one point, and those tired carried him to the front. He wouldn't have caught JPM, but when everyone pit on the GWC, Harvick was the first one with 4 tires and on the inside lane. That was a recipe for success; ask Boywer and Logano who followed Harvick to the front.

I don't really mind Kurt racing people hard; he's in a furniture row car. It is unbelievably ironic though that he did to Stewart what Kenseth did to him one straight away later---got into his rear and pushed him out of the groove. He then tore Kenseth's car up, and Stewart tore his up.

Stewart needs to shut up and race. Perhaps he should talk to David Gilliand. He has 6 straight races out of the top 15. He gained a lot of spots by taking 2 tires, then lost them when he got out of the groove and finished where he ran all day. Wah.

Denny will start a Talladega. He's 71 points out of 20th place. He needs to outpace the 20th car (KuBu) by about 4 points in each of the last 17 races. He should be fine. In fact, JPM or Busch may have made the Chase harder for him, as Harvick will likely finish in the top 10, so the win is irrelevant. If the 48, 17, 18, 5, and company can keep winning races, Denny could conceivably get into the Chase with a single win.

truck race tonight as prelude for the main event tomorrow night.

Unlike last year, they are averaging the finishing positions from the first four segments for the final restart, instead of last year's that allowed the winners of the early segments to sit back.

*the Dick Trickle news reminded me that back in the year he won the Open (1990), the open was 134 laps and the main event was 70. Last year, the open was only 40 laps, and the main event 90.

RIP Jason Leffler. Died at age 37 in NJ in a sprint car wreck. Had raced a cup car at Pocono just 3 days ago. Career stats included two Nationwide series wins and one Truck series win.
