Mario dropping the first puck tomorrow...Hockey is back!

Postby heshootsandscores on Fri Sep 28, 2012 9:17 pm

Tomorrow marks the first game of the new team in Johnstown. Mario is dropping the first puck! What a way to open our season!

Welcome the Johnstown Tomahawks!

This is another reason I respect Mario Lemieux. He didn't have to come to our opener, but he will be there with Iceburgh!

I can't wait!

Haven't followed much about this, but pretty cool that hockey is back in Johnstown. Man, that War Memorial has to be so old.

Yeah it is, but the "Old Time Hockey" atmosphere is pretty great!

It will bring back the love of the game :D

I will be there behind the players bench...you don't realize what you have till it's gone.

What a great night! The game was exciting, Mario dropped the first puck and the opening ceremony was awesome!

Mario actually signed my 1990 Pen's jersey with alot of the teams autographs. Now it is complete, and never to be worn again!

Whats the name of that bar right down the street from the WM? It is so small your like sitting at the bar and your almost able to learn against the back wall lol. We used to love hitting that place up hours before the game when the Nailers played the Chiefs. I think a few times we went for lunch and to pregame, ended up eating dinner there as well and pretty much not remembering anything about the game. But I never forget their gigantic burritos there.

Yep, it's definitely Scott's By Dam. I want to say he did something different inside where there's a little bit more room, but the place overall still holds no more than 50 people. :)

Was recently at Scott's by Dam... No way in hell 50 people get there. There are probably 8 seats at the bar and 20 table seats, seating for 28-32 tops I'd say. And not comfortably.

There were probably 15 people in there when I was there and there wasn't much extra space

I didn't mean 50 comfortably. Maybe 40 with people standing in the aisles, 45 if you pack it in.

There aren't any "aisles." There's a few tables along one wall, the bar along the other. But Scott is AWESOME

c'mon, if you've been in there, you know what I meant. There's one main aisle that runs from the door to the back.....ummm...and a second one that barely qualifies that runs from left to right where people bunch up. If there's a row of people in an uninterrupted line, it's an aisle. :P

point being aisles, no aisles, whatever, I'm still saying 40-45 people. I'll even make a point to count it out when I get back in town for a weekend.

Ha. we never counted aisles, but always told people we could sit at the bar and lean against the back wall. We would spend hours at that place before Nailers-Chiefs games. Looked forward to it each time. One time the guy even remembered us from the previous year.
