To have Penguins fans up there was a mistake," said Larry Hoepfner, the Jackets vice president of business operations. "We are not going to hide from it. It will not happen again."
Zamboni riders are pre-selected by the organization sometimes days or weeks in advance, Hoepfner said. Fans receiving invitations now will be told they cannot wear team apparel of other NHL teams. Hoepfner spent part of Monday, he said, answering angry emails about the Zamboni rides.
The club, which is struggling at the gate, also will explore ways to ensure Jackets' fans get the first chance to buy tickets for popular draws such as the Penguins, Red Wings and Blackhawks. During the 2009 playoffs, for instance, the first day of ticket sales was limited to Ohio residents.
I saw that and questioned how anyone would let a Penguins fan on the Zamboni. I laughed, but then thought it was just a classic switcharoo, claiming he was a jackets fan but was really a Pens fan. I still don't know how he made it on there wearing full Pens garb.

Personally, that's fine. It was obvious nobody showed up to by the tickets on day one anyways.

They really can't do this. I personally spent over $400.00 this weekend for my ticket, hotel, drinks, and food all of which benefited the Columbus economy. If I were just a regular BJ fan, I probably would have only spent $15.00 for parking like I normally spend at Pens home game and not purchased any concessions etc.
The fact is, when you have a ton of fans from other teams, they will spend more money than your regular fan base. I bet the R-Bar, other restaurants, and Hotels aren't complaining about their profits from these games. Heck even the BJ's shouldn't be complaining for making more money than usual do by actually selling out a few games a year. If anything, I would increase ticket prices for games against Pittsburgh and Detroit.

Quick - who here is from Ohio? Please buy around 9,000 tickets...you should sell out to Pens fans still.

My girlfriend is legally an Ohio resident. Problem solved.

I'll front everyone's ticket for next year's game.
Seriously, they can go ahead and make sure that early sales only go to Columbus residents like they did for the playoffs if they want. I went to the first playoff game in the history of the Jackets franchise. We walked up to the box office an hour and a half before game time and walked right in.
