So my 11 month old daughter has hated her carseat since the day we took her home from the hospital and for a long time had two modes in the car: sleeping and screaming.
One day a few months ago she was very upset on the ride home from her babysitters and out of frustration I put in Less Than Jakes "Hello Rockview" album, cranked it up, and... she stopped yelling.
At first i thought i had just startled and distracted her, but the next day I put the cd on again as soon as we got into the car and she stopped fussing again right away. Luckily she hasn't got tired of Hello Rockview and neither have I. For Christmas we got her another Less Than Jake album, two Streetlight Manifesto cds, and the best of the Mighty Might Bosstones.
any other suggestions for car ride music in this vein?

Still trying to figure out why they (and seemingly the band) split up.

he stopped a friend of mine to ask directions during sxsw last year and he was apparently with a very young and very attractive female. friend told them it was kinda far on foot to where they were headed and offered them a ride, which they accepted. he said the 5 min. car ride confirmed in his mind that they were 'together.' can't remember exactly when he and kim split, but this was last march and i feel like it was pretty soon after the breakup. the whole thing just bummed me out.

So i'm trying to assemble my personal ongoing list of my favorite 100 albums. (partly inspired by how Keith Law does his favorite books on his blog). But going through this i've realized that a really good argument for London Calling being the best rock album ever made.

Lists like that are so hard to make.

I wouldn't claim it to be the "best" Clash record, but I would probably listen to Black Market Clash before any of the rest.
In fact, I did a few months ago and it just as great.

Yeah, this list is going to take a while. But I wanted to get away from listening only to playlists and individual tracks. So i've been going through album by album on my ipod at work making visual scale of how I view each song to gauge the album as a whole when i start ranking them.

Pressure Drop might be my favorite clash song, I just think London Calling brings so much to the table. It's poppier and more accessible than Black Market Clash, I just think Spanish Bombs, Clampdown and the Card Cheat have their own top tier, and when the second tier of songs on album include London Calling, Rudie Can't Fail, Train in Vain and Death and Glory...i think you know what i mean.

That sounds familiar, although maybe more so at like 8 months. Lumineers and Black Keys were the magic elixir for us. I'll have to throw All My Best Friends Are Metalheads on in the car and see how my daughter likes it. That was my favorite Less Than Jake album.

No real help for you though, you've hit about all the late 90s ska punk that I know.

London Calling is nearly flawless and would absolutely be in my top 5, if not the no. 1 spot. The only problem I have with it is that the only song I don't think of as absolutely brilliant (brand new cadillac) is the SECOND song on the record.

I really like The Clash, but they are nowhere near my favorites. I'm more a Wire kind of guy. Just like I much prefer Television over Ramones.

Thoughts on new Alice In Chains?

It sounds like Dirt era AIC.

If this had come out when it should have, we would have been discussing Dave Roche instead of Tangradi.

1992....the red hot chili peppers playing SNL. John Frusciante has grown very tired of touring, he is high and on drugs. This is his last song before he leaves the band. I believe he shot up heroin before this also. This might be my favorite version of Under The Bridge ever.

Thoughts or comments about this? Im sorry I can't talk Ray Ray all day. And I know LGP has some very passionate music fans.

The first two thirds, maybe. I mean, it's still good, but yeah, it isn't quite as mindblowing as their classics. Those last three songs, though? Oh lawd... I can only dream of the day when ANOTHER mbv album comes out, exploring that direction even further.
