unless you're using unscented deo/anti, soap/body wash, after shave, etc., though it didn't come from a bottle you're wearing a scent, it might not be specifically cologne, but you still have something on. The last few years have seen a dramatic increase in scented everything, and wearing cologne on top of those things would be overkill. I notice a few posts about significant others buying cologne for their guys, so that leads me to believe women still like their guys to smell good. Grooming is a personal choice, so if you dirty hippies don't care how you smell, that's ok too (j/k). I never thought about who wears what, with the obvious excetion being the cologneaholic, and he needs to be shot down with a fire hose.

That pretty much nails it. Not the content but absolutely the tone/accent.

I give myself a spray of either curve or bath and body works cologne. My wife got them for me like 4 years ago. Which shows how much I use them

to drive it home, would you prefer a rocking chair/steely glare/unlit cigar in the corner of the mouth look or the more stereotypical spitoon clang at the end of the comment?

I'm on the fence. I like the spitoon look, but that also disgusts me. I have to go with the rocking chair. Actually I really hope to age into looking like Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino and sitting on the porch with the rocking chair look some day.

I am shocked about what has transpired in this thread. Idoit always seemed like a guy that needed an entire can of Axe to make it through the day.

I actively dislike cologne and men who wear it. It comes off as desperate; Hello ladies! The bar is OPEN! I've felt that way since I was a little kid, too. I've never smelled a cologne or even an aftershave and thought "Oh. My. God. If only I smelled like this....."

I get plenty of compliments on how nice I smell, but the only thing I wear is Old Spice High Endurance deodorant, and I chose the scent (Pacific Surge) because it was the most neutral one I could find.

Don't really like perfume on women, either, for much the same reason. But I can at least understand why they wear it more than dudes and smell juice.

unless I tell people they don't know I'm wearing anything. Cologne used to be something men wore because soap and anti/deodorants had no real smell, so honestly I don't get the distinction whether it comes from your deodorant, soap, body wash you still chose to wear something. You can buy all of the above products that have no smell. I'm not getting the hostility towards cologne. I think we're all a little hostile to men who don't wear it correctly, is that the disctinction?

Guess a lot of you guys have never smelled any Creed Green Irish Tweed before :). Not every cologne is like Polo Green (harsh, offensive). Get something with a weak sillage that sticks close to the skin and you 1) won't offend anyone and 2) will make the ladies happy.

My body wash generally fulfills my smell requirement. But, if I am going on a date or something formal I will use a Dolce and Gabbana fragrance.

I like a hint of Polo. Or, a clean smell. :)
I don't like too much perfume/cologne on women or men. I wear perfume. I read in a magazine; to apply perfume~ spray and walk through the mist for the proper effect. Your smell shouldn't arrive before you.

My grandmother taught me that. And don't breathe in when you walk through, or you'll get it up your nose and get a headache from the concentrated smell.

A light, fresh, clean smell on a guy's neck when you hug him... so nice and comfortable.

Have not worn any fragrance since college. Even then, I mostly stuck to whatever a girl told me she liked.

I just eat my shampoo half way through the shower. Not only does it smell good, it saves a bunch on toothpaste too.
