Live Music Events

Postby ExPatriatePen on Thu Dec 27, 2012 2:59 pm

Just scored a couple of tickets to see Govt Mule at the Beacon Theatre this coming Sunday Night (Dec 30th). This will be the 7th time in the last 8 years that I've seen them on Dec 30th at the Beacon. I'm stoked.

That's awesome....the one thing I miss about being with my seperated wife is going to shows. The last concert I went to was U2 at Heinz Field July 2011. Before that was Fitz and the Tantrums. I guess now if a band I really wanna see comes ill be going myself.

I don't think I have anything scheduled in January (Bear In Heaven is the only show I thought about).
February I am doing Lumineers, Bad Books, Man Man/Murder By Death, and Muse.
March I am doing Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.

Lumineers would be a good one. I've heard great things about Muse shows but they're not really in a genre I'm very fond of.

Annuals and Calexico in January. Man Man/Murder by Death, Desaparecidos, Bad Books, and Tame Impala in February. Most importantly, incredibly excited to meet Mavis Staples before her show in early February.

I saw Lumineers in early 2012 before their meteoric rise. They were a good live show. I'll be curious to see how they are as a headliner.

I'm not a huge Muse fan, its not really my show, but I figure it will be decent and have also heard that they put on good shows.

I'm worried that I'm too excited for Man Man. I feel like if they live up to what I have in my mind it will be one of the best shows I've ever seen.

A friend of mine played bass on their first two records, so I got to see a lot of their shows around 2005-2006 that were an absolute riot. I'm interested to see if the experience has changed at all since then.

Murder by Death puts on a great show as well. They're tailor-made for drinking whiskey and dancing obnoxiously. It should be a good time.

Where are you seeing the Desaparacidos? They're only playing a handful of cities I think. I'm debating going up to Boston to go that show with my friend who lives up there.

I'd love to see My Bloody Valentine in London or Manchester in March. Then I can die in peace.

It slipped my mind for some reason when I posted that it was postponed. I should of said i'm going to the concert when they reschedule the date. Regardless i'm looking forwsrd to the concert since I haven't been to one since Van Halen preformed at Mellon Arena a few years ago.

I've seen the Avett Brothers 2 times. Although not my cup of tea they put on a great show.

For any central PA folks/craft beer aficionados, Rhett Miller of the Old 97's will be at Appalachian Brewing Company January 17th.

Government Mule is at the Beacon (NYC) tonight and tomorrow. A couple friends asked us to go tomorrow night with them, but we already have other plans so we likely can't. I think tickets are still available if anyone's interested.
