I agree the comparison is irrelevant on a team front. However, on an individual level, RG3 was expected to do more for his team than Ben was.

And yes, failure will be determined in more than one year, and he didn't have immediate pressure to win. However, as soon as he was named the starter, the pressure to perform well was there. After this year, expectations for him and the team will be quite high.

The reason he started is because he gave his team the best chance to win. Pressure on any quarterback is significant, so the difference is experience. For him, pressure was no greater than any other #1 pick that starts right away, of which there are 3 in the playoffs this year... he'll start next year no matter what happens in the playoffs.

Yes, the level of pressure is essentially the same for Luck and RG3 (although the Colts didn't give up a boatload of picks for Luck). This initially was about Ben and RG3. You said that RG3 didn't have the expectations that Ben had on him when he was drafted. Ben was asked to come in and manage the offense. RG3 was asked to come in and be the offense for a team that had no offense last year. Now, Ben exceeded that and won a Super Bowl and RG3 had the bonus of Morris breaking out, but on an individual level, RG3 had a greater burden placed on him than Ben did early on. RG3 was drafted to basically be the savior of the franchise that has recently been inept and irrelevant.
