Just saw that Shaler Jiggle now has a mix-singles area and installed taps. Way to go, dudes.

Boom! Just hope the mixed sixers doesn't limit big bottle selection like it seemed to do at the Pine jig.

Started with the Bock, as I figured it would probably be the easiest to drink (in terms of drinkability).

Very low on taste. Nothing too strong. Seems like a kind of beer that could get you in some trouble because it goes down easily.

I just found out about this and will have to miss it, because I'm going out of town:

It might sound ridiculous, but I'm super bummed that I can't have a Penn Pilsner. :(
Maybe this means that they are branching out geographically?

Been drinking a lot of Weihenstephaner...tbh... I think I might like Franziskaner better... From the bottle anyway. That said, they are like 1a and 1b for me... Can't really lose.

Recently tried Blanche de chambly and La Fin du monde... The Blanche was quite good, though I'd still take Hoegaarden over it. Lfdm was awesome... Though I'd probably still take Delirium over it... Just goes down smoother.

Tried a couple other hefes so far... Erdinger was ok... Nothing special. Ayinger is quite good. Still a notch down from the elite, but very much drinkable.

Still left from my first haul:

Ayinger Dunkel Weiss
Weihenstephaner Dunkel weiss
Ommegang Hennepin
Ommegang Three Philosophers
Founders Dirty Bastard

There's an awesome Unibroue sampler at Save On Beer. I think it is:
(x4 each)
La Fin Du Monde
Blanche De Chamblay
Ephemere
Don De Dieu
Maudite
Trois Pistoles

of the nationally available hefes i've had, i would rank them

1.Weihenstephaner
2.Franziskaner
3.SchneiderWeiss
4.Sierra Nevada Kellerweis
5.Flying Dog In Heat Wheat
6.Ayinger
7.Paulaner
8.Troegs Dreamweaver
9.Erdinger
10.Shiner

those are the ones i've had. The only one i would not drink again was the Shiner.

I've bought one of those before. IMO, Unibroue doesn't brew anything that would rate as less than excellent. I do wish it was a little cheaper. Alas, contrary to that nonsensical saying, the best things in life are in fact often very, very expensive.

Ayinger Dunkel Weiss is also good. Will compare with the Weihenstephaner Dunkel later.

Stone Coconut IPA... don't do it. I'm pretty sure they put suntan lotion in it.

The Weihenstephaner has a bit more flavor, probably not quite as smooth... I'm calling it a draw for now on the Dunkel.

They put the mix section on the four right-most shelves of the regular craft sixers, where you see Brooklyn and Flying Dog, so I don't think that in itself took space away from the BBs.

While i was there, picked up a cold BB of Chimay blue and a six of Spaten Dunkel.

Yeah, the great wall of beer is singles. They also sell 6 packs of some beers, and they have a lot of wine also, if that's your thing. Prices seem decent enough to me, at least the ones I've bought anyway.

I had a Founders All day IPA last night after trying the Stone coconut IPA. It's just as good as I remembered. I then ordered a 2x milk stout from southern tier and of course, it was out so I went with the only other real dark they had in a Vanilla Java porter.

All Day IPA is nice because the ABV is reasonable. You can drink a lot of those.

For any Ruination IPA fans, Stone is upping the ABV to 8.2%
