I've been successful with just about every weapon :pop:

What I've seen suggests otherwise :pop:

There are maybe 5 people that use my account when at my house so my stats don't represent true results. You're always welcome to jump into a game to find out for yourself though.

JeffDFD on xbox (how creative, right?)

Would love to have a crew of LGP...I have a regular group I typically play with but there aren't many and we never are all on at once so I would be down most of the time...I love me some domination and it is so frustrating playing solo on Domination. I generally rock an LGP clan tag (because admin sponsors me because I am so awesome...still waiting for my payments, though!). Actually, I am no expert, but consider myself decent enough. I don't care about my K/D ratio and die a lot trying to cap points.

My clan tag right now is AoB though because I was on with some friends and some enemy was capturing a point...no one was talking for a moment until one friend just said "he's gone" and we all had a good laugh when the Ace of Base song popped into my head where the oen guy singer comes in and says a bunch of blah blah blah and then clearly says "he's gone" (or she, I forget). Ok so it was late and hilarious at the time adn we changed our tag to AoB. We then started losing after a long winning streak. (end CSB)

Got FC3 reinstalled, and it read my old savegame so I was able to pick up where I left off. Just got to the "Definition of Insanity" level that was the preview trailer.

Playing this game on Warrior level is pretty nuts. Enemy bad guys have some pretty stupid AI routines when they are not alerted, but once they know where you are man..... they are quick to flank, use cover and concealment and press their attack.

I'll shoot you a friend request sometime later. My favorite game type, by far, is hardcore capture the flag, but I know that's kind of a niche thing. I enjoy domination too though. The only thing I'm not big on is core TDM...especially when I get a half dozen hit markers and don't kill the guy. :D

If it were the first Grand Theft Auto game I’d ever played, I’d think that GTA 4 was pretty good. But I can see why the consensus is that it’s worse than San Andreas. It’s supposed to be a new generation of the GTA franchise, but the game seems to me to be less detailed than its predecessor. Liberty City is big, but most of it is empty. There seem to be fewer usable stores, bars, and other businesses than in SA. At the point I’m at, there’s only one clothing store available, and I hate everything it sells. SA had 3 clothing stores available at the start of the game, and they each sold more stuff than the store in GTA 4. I don’t see any barbershops or tattoo parlors, and the character customization seems to be zip. There aren’t any shops to customize cars. There are no bicycles that I can see. Shouldn’t a big city be full of businesses? You’re telling me that a huge big-city neighborhood has one clothing store and only a handful of restaurants?

Also, the game is severely lacking in whimsy. One of the attractions of the GTA series was its blend of realistic and over-the-top gameplay. GTA 3 had you blowing up cars with bombs made from remote-control cars. Vice City had you selling drugs out of an ice-cream truck that looked like a pair of boobs, and one of the game’s missions had you move lights to make an ad for a porn movie. San Andreas had government conspiracies, wacky hippies, and a girlfriend with her own S&M dungeon (dating her earned you a “gimp suit” as a special outfit). GTA 4 doesn’t have that humor. Where’s the comic relief?

If you have not played The Walking Dead video game by Tell-Tale games you are missing out. Remember my rant on how bad story has become in video games? Well, this game had story and some. There are actually wtf moments and quite a few decisions that are incredibly tough to deal with. While its not really a game rather than an interactive story I found myself enjoying it immensely. Unbelievably fun.

I agree with you on the things like bicycles and some of the side jobs and things of that nature, but personally I don't need a ton of clothes and things of that nature.. I barely even do side missions that dont progress the story. I mean, in SA, I hated going to the gym and all that garbage. I went to the tattoo parlor a time or two to see what happened and same thing with the gym and things of that nature but maybe I'm weird.

If you're playing a "sandbox" type game and you're just progressing through the story specific missions, that is weird.

Side missions are why the game was so good. Simply doing in game missions would progress the story without seeing a lot of the city or doing things around it. The whole point of a sandbox game is being able to do a ton of **** that isn't strictly part of the story. Half my fun so far in SA has been seeking out tags to spray over.

I completely agree. Part of the fun of having a big, open game world is exploring all of the nooks and crannies and seeing what’s out there. Look at games like Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout, etc. where there are all sorts of caves, ruins, towns, forts, vaults, subway tunnels, sewers, and other stuff to see and explore. Many of those locations are featured in side quests that have nothing to do with the main plot. Liberty City in GTA 4 is absolutely huge, but the vast majority of the buildings might as well be made of solid Minecraft bricks for all the good they are. I mean, in the game you eat to recover health. The game designers put restaurants all over the place, but most of them can’t be entered and are just useless decorations. Why even bother to put the graphics for Chinese restaurant on that building over there if I can’t go in and get some lo mein? Why am I spending five minutes driving from one part of the city to another when the vast, vast majority of the territory in between the two points is essentially filler? They could have cut the size of the game world in half or more and not lost anything.

I mean I go around and go on rampages murdering innocent civilians and running from the cops and I explore if I see something that looks like it goes somewhere, but I guess I just dont spend much time changing clothes and things of that nature. I don't do any of the taxi missions or assasin things like that in the GTA games.

Okay, Far Cry 3.......... has anyone battled the Ink Monster yet? After the first bit of shooting the guy in the face with the bow and exploding arrows, you get attacked by these.... things...... that I can't defeat. Grrr.

And is it weird that I find Citra insanely hot? I know there's supposedly a crazy plot twist involving her late in the game, but yowza. She's right up there with Chloe from Uncharted in terms of video game hotties.

JeffDFD wrote:Question on Far Cry - How important is playing 1 and 2 before playing 3? Related story line (like Half-life, say)...somewhat similar story lines but not needed (like Call of Duty MW games), or completely separate games where nothing is really related besides maybe a couple inside jokes?

None of the games have any connection at all to each other. They're each independent and self-contained stories, altho the gameplay of 3 is most similar to a mashup of FC2 and the Assassin's Creed series.

Far Cry was developed by Crytek who went on to develop the Crysis series of games. FC2 was developed by Ubisoft Montreal just a year after that studio created the first Assassin's Creed. So this is the first game USM have developed since both FC and and AC have been established hits of the gamerverse. So I think it makes a little sense that there's a bit of cross-pollination.

It is. There are a few quick time moments to take on the walkers and other small things, but nothing ridiculous. Honestly anyone could play this game.

But it is also way more in depth than a choose your own adventure type. Some things you say or do will stick in characters' minds and they will bring things up later. A lot of quick decisions need to be made and those decisions can have a lasting impact on how things go later in the game. There is plenty of time to meet all the characters and with all this time you quickly develop feelings towards characters. Some I wish I had never met while others I liked associating with. The stories that take place within each episode are fantastically done and entirely enjoyable. You don't expect some of the things that happen and you are left at the end with a dumbfounded look.

And the best part, this has nothing to do with either the show or the comic book. It is based on these, but they are entirely different characters (except for a few, but they are minor at best) and you get to see the story of Georgia through new eyes.

If you like the comics or the show you will probably love this game. And for 25 bucks it definitely holds its own against any $60 game. I looked for story and got way more.

As for a better idea of how it plays, its like Heavy Rain or Indigo Prophesy assuming you aren't too much of a n00b to know what I'm talking about :pop:

Edit: I recommend Heavy Rain as well. The Walking Dead is better, but if you have a PS3 I highly recommend Heavy Rain. These "interactive film" games are as entertaining for me as any FPS or Action game. You can essentially put a lot of hours into both games. But hopefully you enjoy cutscenes.
