The cool thing is that I have done it a handful of times and never drafted the same person twice (because of who was or wasn't available, not just not picking the same person on purpose). Granted, there are only 4 picks, but still.

Whatever we absolutely don’t need, we will draft.

With the exception of LW I think any other position is one of need for this organization.

Also must come from the Portland Winterhawks since we had such great success with that organization (Morrow and Pouiiot) as well as coach Mike Johnston.

Wow, #1 Pick will be a team knocked out in the qualifying round

There's a second drawing for the eight losers of the play-in games. Whoever wins that drawing gets the top overall, the remaining seven go inverse order probably based on regular season point percentage. The odds for all of the play-in game losers are the same for the number one pick , 1 in 8 or 12.5 percent.

if we somehow ended up with the number one overall pick I think half of the league would have a massive hissy fit. (rightfully so tbh, the way they did the whole lottery and qualifying round for playoffs was pretty dumb)

Guys, I just saw Mike Sullivan, Jim Rutherford, Eddie Johnston, and Lou Angotti getting into a car. As the door was closing, EJ said "OK, so this is what you need to do to get that pick..."

I was thinking about this last night, what happens if the NHL doesn't return to play due to another spike?

Would they include all playoff teams in the lottery for the 1st overall pick? Only teams that were set to play in the play in round?

If play doesn't resume this could really get mangled.

Rutherford just traded it for a middle 6 guy.

if that scenario happened, they have said it would be the next eight(i.e all the lower ranked teams in the qualifying round).
