So now we have no first or second round pick in 2020. We’ll be Detroit in a few.

Nor Addison, but especially not both. Now the cupboard becomes more bare.

*Conditions: If Pittsburgh misses the 2019-20 playoffs, Pittsburgh has the option to send their 2021 1st round pick instead.

As folks have mentioned, the gain is Zucker and the elimination of Galchenyuk’s salary. Combined, that’s worth a prospect and a first.

We're going that way eventually whether we held on to this pick or not.

Conditional is if the pens do not make the play offs. 2021 if this happens. Per Bob McKenzie. Hardball GMJR. )))

He's a UFA, his hit for the next two months is irrelevant. That could be an argument if it was Bjugstad.

the goal has to be to maximize the Cup chances while 87 and 71 are still superstars. If that comes at the cost of the future, so be it.

I’m more concerned about Zucker being the guy to get than I am about the cost. If JR got the right guy, the cost is no problem.

My first reaction is to think this is a bit of an overpayment. It just depends on how good of a prospect Addison really is. I know he got a good bit of hype for his performance with Canada at the World Juniors, but I've also seen some reports suggesting that his lack of size and defensive ability limit his upside--he might project to be more of a 3rd-pairing, PP QB type player. I haven't seen enough of him to have a firm opinion.

And I feel like the Pens are pretty good at selling high on prospects, though, it does seem like it'd be hard to sell Guerin a lemon when he's so familiar with the farm system.

I like that GMJR got this done way ahead of the deadline.

I might have to remove my "Rutherford is good at trades" rider. The Kessel trade stunk for the Pens and was done for idiotic reasons. This trade is the worst of Rutherford's tenure here, and possibly the worst Pens trade since the 90s (I say possibly because I didn't look at a list)

I am looking forward to all of the people that were pushing for Zucker to realize that he is nothing special.

How was the Phil trade a bad one? Have you seen what he’s done this year? Or how he finished last year? He was brought to PIT at the right time. He accomplished what he was brought to do. And he was sent away at the right time (or perhaps a pinch too late). Either way, he’s cooked.

This is the same Kessel who is being outscored in goals this year by teammate Lawson Crouse?

The goal should be to maximize the chances, not spending Rolls Royce prices for a Chevy.

Need to win in the next 2-3 years while crosby and malkin are elite. Zucker helps us do that, a late 1st this year and Addison do not.

Now we just need another move that removes Simon from the top line.

I don't think Zucker does though. I don't think the Penguins go any further with Zucker than without him.

That’s where I am in this. We have a very good shot with the right players of winning the cup this year.

If Zucker ends up fitting in like Tanev and Kahun but provide a little more offense that’s what we need.

The rise of Pettersson, Marino and then also getting Jospeh made Addison slightly expendable but we do need to restock. We have no 2nd this year too so we need to find some good players who will have their rights lost by other teams like Marino was about to or find a guy like Connor Mackey this summer or whenever he can be signed or other undrafted college defensemen, don’t care much about right or left side.
