This season has been tough. Injury after injury. 4 were/are long term.
Hoping this isn't 5.

And of course Dejan just reported Marino has three fractures in his cheek and is out for a while. Awesome.

No idea how similar Marino's injury is to Brodin's, but maybe there's hope? Remember, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things.

An NHL Injury Twitter account took a look at reported cheek injuries over the last 10 years. The most games missed was 8 by Kyle Quincy. This doesn't, however, taken into account cheek injuries that the club only reported as UBIs, but, it does give some hope that maybe Marino only misses half a dozen games.

Yup. Googling broken cheek recovery time shows 6 weeks. I was assuming same recovery time as broken jaw. There is hope.

Pensburgh did an article on this and showed 3 players who had cheek fractures. The closest example to Marino was back in exactly 3 weeks after having surgery.

Kahun had a pretty intense pre-practice workout, but he did not join the regular practice. Barring any setbacks, I would not be shocked to see him back in the next game after Tampa tomorrow.

Marino did not participate in practice today. No update yet on his status.

No Dumoulin or Bjugstad on the ice. Still doing off-ice workouts last I heard.

I saw 3-6 weeks all over twitter today so I’ll assume that came from the team.

3 weeks is back for the Sens on 3/3 missing 10 games. In those 10 games are the pacific visit, Leafs twice, Habs, Wings, Sabres with all of those winnable and then Bolts this Tuesday and at the Caps in the middle of that time. Not a bad stretch to not have a Marino.

The schedule is still pretty easy until 3/23 against the Caps again. It would be nice to get players back by the end of the month. Really missing Dumo and Kahun.

I've seen some indications that Dominik Kahun is targeting Sunday to return to action. He practiced yesterday in a gray no-contact sweater.

Kahun's flown under the radar. You notice when he's not there. It makes HCMS move Rust to LW for instance.

I feel like Dumoulin and Marino will be back before Bjugstad. The need to get a 3C is real, I'd keep McCann on Malkin's LW.

Bjugstad was skating today before practice. Rossi had a short video clip on Twitter. I'll have to look and see if any other media have more video, as Rossi's clip was pretty short, and it looked more like a casual slow speed skate.

Also, Kahun was still in gray no contact jersey, so likely still out tomorrow.

Regardless, the fact he's on the ice is a big deal. They need to find out if he's coming back or not. He's availability is vital as far as being able to roll four lies and take advantage of your depth at wing. Or, if you want to trade him, he's got to show that he's going to be fully healthy. Right now his only value would be to teams out of it this season who believe he can help them next. The Pens best play is probably to hold onto to him because his trade value isn't much right now.
