Add Jared McCann to the injured list. He is day to day, and reportedly has a lower body. Maybe even a lower body injury.

Malkin - LTIR, LBI
Rust - LTIR, Hand
Bjugstad - IR, LBI
Galchenyuk - IR, LBI
McCann - IR, LBI

Just throwing this out there. I recall someone staing that the boards at PPG arena are less forgiving than other arenas. If true, playing 41 home games where you are taking hits against less forgiving boards could contribute to more injuries.

Sounds like McCann is a game-time decision, leaning towards a no-go, and if that happens, expect Juuso Riikola to get in his first game of the season (as 7th d-man or a forward). Gudbranson and Ruhwedel appear to be the definite scratches for tonight.

That's why this crazy roster configuration is baffling. No forward scratched so the Pens have to use 11 of an already depleted forward group with 7 on defense.

You leave out in game injury and Sullivan getting mad at one mistake, benching X player for most of the game.....leaving the team with 9 forwards.

Penguins need to make a decision ASAP on their roster structure. My gut says they will drag it out until players returning from injury force their hand, but, time to trade or waive a defenseman or two.

Could you include the initial projected time these players would be out? This would help in knowing when they will return.

A game time decision and practicing in practice would be at last probable.

Malkin - hearing anywhere from 6-10 weeks. 10 weeks would be early December
Rust - He's been skating (which isn't a huge deal with what I suspect is a broken hand or finger). 1-2 more weeks for Rust would be my guess.
Bjugstad - No real timeframe or hint of what his injury is, but Sullivan said before Malkin. I would guess a return a week or so before Thanksgiving.
Galchenyuk and McCann - being only on IR and listed as day to day, I would suspect they SHOULD be back next week at the latest.

Galchenyuk and McCann, if day-to-day, should be back for games against the Dallas Stars and/or the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday and Saturday.

If you caught Bob McKenzie talking during intermission last night, he said Galchenyuk was believed to have a nagging groin injury, however, he rehab was set back by a spider bite that caused a bad reaction. McKenzie said he is likely out a few weeks. Will be interesting to see if the Penguins comment.

According to Molinari, Malkin and Galchenyuk skated before the pre-game skate. Bjugstad and Trotman both skated during the skate. Rust also skated during the pre-game skate and was actually taking light shots.

I guess people are getting better.

Malkin and Galchenyuk skated on the ice for about an hour before practice.

At practice today, Rust, McCann, Bjugstad, and Trotman are all participating. Brian Dumoulin is not present.

UPDATE: Both Bryan Rust and Nick Bjugstad will make the road trip with the team. Rust, if ready, would be eligible to come off LTIR for Saturday's game against Dallas. Bjugstad was not on LTIR, so, he could actually play tomorrow if he is ready.

UPDATE2: Forgot that Sullivan states Dumoulin has a LBI, and will miss the next two games.

UPDATE3: Bjugstad says he is taking it day by day and isn't sure when he will get back in (tomorrow vs Florida not ruled out).

Its ludicrous. Has this bug started to hit the fanbase yet? Completely can foresee the following (for comedic purpose only, chose you cause you posted in this thread)

FLPensFan - out for next game with intense sunburn on the Florida trip (hey, it happened to Geno)
PensPal - injured carpal tunnel in fight with internet troll
LimerickPensFan - being sat for precautionary reasons (inside sources say he was suckered by Gritty)
Penguins Knight - Struck by what was thought to be a stray puck in Canes game (turned out to be the Quidditch from post game celebration)
Daniel - injury cause uncertain, but team sources it happened in Dallas and one fan who goes by the internet handle "Zapruder" has some video the league needs to see

Did you get a good deal on tickets? I was trying to make it down but waited too long to book flight and the prices went up. Hopefully Trocheck is unable to go. They have to make it a little more even! Haha.

I paid about $50 a ticket (before fees) for 6 rows off the ice in the corner where Penguins shoot twice. Ticketing fees through are really getting ridiculous.
