You can keep up 13 forwards, 7 D and 3 goalies...we won’t be “short” anyone

May be wise if Murray or DeSmith get injured in preseason/early in the season. Another team could also lose a goalie early on and may offer up more for Jarry DeSmith at that point.

With the way salaries are trending, we might have trouble locking Murray up. We just saw Buffalo give $9 million per year to a $6 million per year player. And now there's rumors that Marner could receive an offer of $12 million per year or more. How much is Murray's agent going to be looking for? 2 time Stanley Cup winner at age 25. He has just as good of a chance as any goalie to change the market for that position.

Murray isn't a top 5 and maybe not a top 10 goalie. Gibson was miles better and only got in the 6millions per year... It would make zero sense for Murray to make more than that.

Yeah but if Jimmy like him, he could give him an extra 1m or 2m just because Jimmy likes....see Johnson, Jack or Hornqvist, Patric of late where deals were too long or too much.

You can, but you don't.

Practical consideration: There are not enough nets in practice for all three goalies, you will have to rotate the backups which is not ideal.
