Wow. Great read. It's very scary that it was either a cactus or a routine cleaning of his teeths. Thoughts and prayers to him and his family. Pretty amazing story.

More games than I thought they'd give him. Still probably won't learn his lesson though.

Well, maybe the NHL has changed. Shocked!

Its easy to try and justify this suspension, its just a little to late in my book. This suspension doesn't help his last 3 victims. The suspensions need to be more severe even for first time offenders so we don't see them. The carelessness of Wilson to just go out there and lay people out at will has to stop.

There are some cases where a head shot is completely unavoidable and I don’t condone penalties or suspensions for honest mistakes. I think with HD slow motion multiple angle video and context of the situation you can determine that.

But when a player who hits someone else in the head with no other outside circumstance besides either their sloppy play or actually intentional you have to start with 5 games minimum. Next time it’s 10, then 20, then 40 then a full season. At some point that player will either learn or be out of pro hockey in North America.

They seem to be following the Raffi Torres, a few suspension than a 21 game one for him. I am hoping the next time Wilson does this (and he will do it again) that he gets the 41 games that Torres got. After that, he was out of the league.

Taking a look if the Johnson for 3.5 is true. We are then at 34% of our cap is being spent on defense. Taking a look over the years, you can see what years we won the cup and where we were at on defense as a percentage of the cap ceiling.

In the salary cap era, we have never spent over 30% and won the cup. We will be at 34% this season if the roster includes Johnson and Jaime Oleksiak (at 1.6 which is what pensburgh is estimating) and we do not trade away anyone.

Well it got worse. 34% was the highest we ever paid percentage of cap, and now we have outdone ourselves.
