Matt Murray out indefinitely: Father passed away yesterday

Postby FLPensFan on Wed Jan 17, 2018 12:32 pm

As reported by Penguins official Twitter account:

The Pittsburgh Penguins offer our deepest condolences to Matt Murray and his family on the passing of Matt's father, James Murray, yesterday in Ontario.

Matt is returning home from the west coast and will miss an indefinite period of time to be with his family.

Well that news sucks. However, imagine the feeling of pride that this man must have felt over the past two seasons watching his son make the NHL and then go on to win 2 cups in a row.

It's nice that his dad was able to see his son fulfill his dreams.

Hockey matters not. Family does.

Strength to Murray and his.

It was brought up in Jason Mackey's 20 thoughts that Murray's father was the third parental death in the player organization this year. Garrett Wilson lost his mother this season, and Thomas DiPauli lost his father.
