Didn't read the thread, so sorry of it's been asked, but has this ever been done?

A high-scoring, high-paid defenseman converted to winger successfully long-term, I mean.

Brent Burns was moved up to wing last year.

Also was tried with Steve Duchesne or Phil Housley (I tend to get the two mixed up due to playing too much NHL 95 with Housley and Duchesne on the same pairing)

I do not know of any player that has made a successful later-in-career transition from D to forward, or forward to D. The biggest attempt was probably with Federov.

Carol Vadnais, Phil Housley, Red Kelly. All prominent examples of players that played defense then forward (and back again, in the case of Vadnais and Housley). Many other examples. Less so today as positions in sports are more specialized than ever before.

Are you suggesting that name as a player that moved from D to F? If so, I'm unaware of him playing forward for any meaningful stretch in his career. Doesn't mean it didn't happen.

If the tip is so hard to see, then it could not have changed the shot very much Wah Wah Halak beat MAF in the Montreal series and did not blink in this game. MAF did. You apologist can't handle the truth.

I thought the Wild moved Burns to D, and now he's simply returning to forward.

I don't know future considerations, cash like Jagr. Know it all.....

That reminded me of that minor league hockey player, who was traded for a team bus.

Winnipeg draft pick Tom Martin. :thumb:

Not nearly as impressive as Andy Bezeau being traded for a pair of equipment dryers :fist:

to be fair, how many $7.5 million wingers have their been? :pop:

I wish they could compile a list of highest single season cap hit among players post 04-05 lockout, and combine it with a list of all single season salaries before the cap. I'm sure it wouldn't be that difficult, but the list I came up with had single season salaries for the last decade worth of years and thats really worthless to me.

I'm not entirely sure what you are asking for....
Jagr was the highest paid player coming out of the lockout. Salary is listed at $8,360,000, cap hit is listed at $9,491,000. Pre-lockout he earned $11,000,000
Lidstom was second highest paid at $7,600,000, down 24% from his previous $10,000,000.
I think both Keith Tkachuk and Alexei Yashin had similar deals, resulting in a $7.6 million contract in 2005-2006
Iginla made $7,000,000 in 2005-2006, down from $7,500,000 (although I suspect this was a new contract in 2005, not a reduction of previously negotiated wages).

Is this what you were looking for as a comparison?
