Does this concern anyone else??? Malkin "was" an all-world talent who won awards BEFORE Neal came. He can't be that into Neal that he can't score without him can he? And, if he is, what's he gonna do if they don't want to re-sign Neal? Then, what if Neal comes back an nothing really changes?
Meh, Malkin was not good with Neal all last year. The problem goes deeper than that. Probably some of it has to do with Malkin and his perceived role on the team, especially since Sid came back. But IMO it has more to do with the types of players Malkin needs to play with to succeed, as I've posted several times. He works best with a shooter and a grinder. Sadly, I don't think Neal returning is going to be the boon for Malkin that some people hope. Maybe if they switch Megna to the LW and let him crash the net and open up space for those 2. But Jokinen is not that guy. So I think we'll just see more of the same from Malkin-Neal as we did when Iginla was on that line, ie. not the dominant line they were with Kunitz.
