Flower wasn't sharp, but I'm not convinced they would've won even if he was. What a putrid effort from top to bottom.

Can we ship Jeffrey off to the ECHL or KHL or something now? Every time he plays he has a negative impact on the team.

Like the last game against CBJ, where he assissted on the game winning goal with some stellar board work.

For 18 minutes or so, it really looked like the Pens would wipe the floor with the Rags. The rest of the game was painful to watch.

I know Glass is a scrub, but you just HAVE to find the back of the net on that 2-1 with Crosby.

Is D'agostini still hurt? If not, how are we dressing Engo at forward and DJ ahead of him? He can't be that bad, can he?

Did anyone see what happened to Dupuis?

Overall, that was over 40 minutes of uninspired hockey. Hopefully we don't see many more displays like that one.

Does this concern anyone else??? Malkin "was" an all-world talent who won awards BEFORE Neal came. He can't be that into Neal that he can't score without him can he? And, if he is, what's he gonna do if they don't want to re-sign Neal? Then, what if Neal comes back an nothing really changes?

A package trade. Malkin and Neal for Roberto Luongo. 3 birds with 2 stones tied together.

Sid always plays hard and has assists, but even he hasn't scored a goal for the past 5 games. Evgeni is in a goal scoring slump. He has all of the abilites to bring himself out it. Megna pulled from his line because?
I'd love to see evgeni get a guy like boyle; size on the line~ bulk and height.

But the entire team going almost 20 mns without a shot; made edzo's night.

Meh, Malkin was not good with Neal all last year. The problem goes deeper than that. Probably some of it has to do with Malkin and his perceived role on the team, especially since Sid came back. But IMO it has more to do with the types of players Malkin needs to play with to succeed, as I've posted several times. He works best with a shooter and a grinder. Sadly, I don't think Neal returning is going to be the boon for Malkin that some people hope. Maybe if they switch Megna to the LW and let him crash the net and open up space for those 2. But Jokinen is not that guy. So I think we'll just see more of the same from Malkin-Neal as we did when Iginla was on that line, ie. not the dominant line they were with Kunitz.

I may be wrong but the Pens seem to lay an egg in at least 1 game a year in Florida and MSG. Hopefully that's out of their system.

Way to many excuses for Malkin. He is the second highest player in the game.....he needs to produce, no excuses.

Malkin had Neal all of last season, and he played sluggish and uninspired most of the time then. So getting Neal back won't guarantee that Malkin starts scoring. I just can't stomach a 9m per year player who doesn't play hard or produce. He needs to be doing both of those things.

As a player, you have to grow, and improve on things you already do well. Aside from 2012, Geno has regressed, not improved. And Letang is exactly the same. He's not getting any better at the things he doesn't do well (his defensive zone play and power play production are subpar for a top pair D). The turnovers by both these guys are atrocious, glaring, often costly, and unacceptable for two veteran Stanley Cup champions.

Hopefully Duper isn't out long. In the mean time, please Please PLEASE put Bennett on Sid's RW. Just see if something is there. At worst if it fails, this board can collectively move on and accept Dupuis being there.

Also, Martin not at practice? Engo skating his spot with Brooks? Maintenance day I hope, or else Despres better be on the turnpike.

Taking a look at the last few years, the Pens are consistently near the top of Man Games Lost and Games Not Played.

we'd probably run away with the man game salary lost stat, if it were a real thing. there have been long stretches where we'd have like 20 million dollars out of the lineup. that's more significant than a stat that would measure adams and crosby as having the same value.

Very true. Salary would be a decent comparison. As would point production. The best measure I can think of would be TOI/game average.

I don't know if this was discussed in the GDT because I refuse to go into those, but last night I started laughing when they talked to Bylsma about the game turning to the Rangers and he said something to the effect of "We're not playing in the offensive zone, we have to get the puck into the offensive zone". Regular Season Champions or Bust.
