Trade Niskanen to the Kings for Scuderi and a pick to draft a center for Engelland.

Given the penchant for injuries to Pens D-men, Maatta at right place right time. Guessing Borts gets back in the regular rotation, with Engelland remaining the emergency 7th dman.

The silver lining is that (1) Bortuzzo will get back in the lineup. Sitting and getting cold in the press box would have been the worst thing for a guy who got off to a great start to the season.

(2) Also means Maatta will continue to play (he would have been rotated out occasionally to get Borts a game here and there).

(3) Niskanen will move back up into the top 4, where the added minutes will help him keep up his hot start to the season.

If all 3 continue to play exceptionally well, could mean the end of the line for Orpik or a nice return for Niskanen when Scuds gets back.

You can put a silver lining around a plate of ****, am I supposed to go "Ugh, gross, am I supposed to eat this or is this like a prank show or something? Where's that Ashton Kutchners? At least it's on nice dinnerware..."

So sick of injuries.

So long as its something Scuderi can fully recover from, the team will be better for it.

Yeah but it's just a continuation of the trend. It's not like it's a one and done thing with injuries. Could come back and get re-injured right away. It's just frustrating. Yeah Bort sees more time and that helps the depth at the playoffs and pending any more injuries or trades and yeah yeah. Just every year it's the same.

Silver linings, like the inside of the stanley cup!!! Totally agree, Borts was playing really well, hate to see him sit, bring some toughness back into the lineup, maybe that will "inspire" the team a little more.

Figures, The Piece is basically bulletproof for years playing in both Pittsburgh (at the Igloo) and LA, then shortly after coming to Consol (which basically seems to be cursed) he has a major injury. Was Consol built on an ancient Indian burial ground or something?

Either that, or blame could be put on Stieggy, the eternal Jinx. A few games ago he was going on and on about how Scuderi hasn't missed a game since 2010. Right then, I almost expected Scuderi to go down.

So Scuderi has missed exactly zero games the previous 3 seasons and he gets hurt 10 games in here? Awesome.

One month, no big deal. We have depth on D. As long as he's healthy for the stretch run and the playoffs.

some claimed when Sid was out for a long time with a high ankle sprain that he would have come back quicker if he'd have broken it...well, i guess we get to find out if that is true.
