Upshall? Fleischman? Kopecky? Versteeg? Boyes?

Boyes has played well everywhere he's gone the past few years. But not really what the Pens need (though the price is nice). Kopecky is mildly interesting. He had a great year last year. He's a bigger guy who plays with a lot of intensity. But hasn't scored a single point this season...

I'd really love to get Nick Bjugstad. He's one of FLA's young guys, but not in the core necessarily. Guy's a monster. Would groom him to be a baobab in front of the net.

Looks like Tallon's looking for vets who can provide "leadership" and "work-ethic"...

Good call. For some reason I thought Matthias was in his mid 30's. Been around the league for a while now. But he's only 25. Started playing at 19 and has been stuck on the Panther's suckitude all these years.

Also a big guy with hands, easy cap hit for a 3rd liner. I wonder what he could do on a decent team...

Forgive me if it's been mentioned... I also don't want to make a thread, but I've heard for the second time today about a Edm/Pit rumor involving Yakupov. Who and what would it be? BB would have to go back as they would want a wing. Also include Maatta or Depres or ..... ?

Edit. Sorry, forgot to mention I've heard it from friends. Haven't even googled yet. Yakupov on Malkins line.... that could be fun.

Yakupov doesn't appear to be on the table. Hemsky, yes. Eberle, long shot, but maybe. Yakupov, I don't think they're going to give up on him 60 games into his career after using the first overall pick on him. His head coach said as much the other day. There is no rumor.

Shawn Matthias has perked up the ears of a few NHL clubs, AIUI. Tomas Kopecky would fit in the mold of the wingers we seem to like here.

With Neal, the last thing Geno needs is a Yakupov with his questionable work ethic.

He had 11 goals in a 16 game stretch last year so at least the potential is there. Went to Florida in the Bertuzzi deal, who at 38, I wouldn't mind having either. He's got 5 goals this year and is always parked in front of the net. Doubt that Detroit would trade him though.

Is there a Gary Roberts level Russian player out there that we could bring in to light a fire under Malkin?

A Russian who's especially known for his intense and over-the-top workouts? Gee, let me think...
