Watching people on Twitter ***** about the new ticket system and how it benefits the season ticket holders is hilarious.

didnt attend the game so my friend sent me a pic of his ticket. scanned it and it said "Congratualtions! You have successfully scanned your ticket into PensPoints. Unlocking points for tickets often takes between 5-15 minutes to appear in your account. We will be sure to send you a message to confirm that you have received your PensPoints for today's game attendance." VERY IMPORTANT: 1) they seems to have turned off the location requirement because they think since you have to scan an actual ticket that will break down on people sharing. (I have a friend who is a season ticket holder and he has 2 and only scans his and will send me the other) and the ticket is only valid once you get it scanned at consol and for 5 hours after the scan. 2) Merchandise codes now have to be a total of $10 or more to get a code (so no more lollis) and up to 10 a month. 3) some Dr. Pepper bottles have codes under the caps and that is a max of 40 caps a month. 4) 10 scavenger codes again 5) If you get pens predicter right, you get 25 points. besides that concession, miller light night, etc are all the same. hope this helps

So they made the PensPoints program basically useless unless your a season ticket holder. I guess fans like us dont matter and count to the Pens oweners and organization. The store they improved but the way to get points they made nearly impossible for loyal and avid fans that arnt fortunate enough to own season tickets. Just another example of the small man getting **** on and the Pens catering to the rich.

Well couldnt make it to the game tonight so I forwarded my tickets to my cousin. She printed them up and entered the game, then sent me a pic of the printed barcode. I tried scanning it but the app said to refer to pg 28 in icetime for game attendance code.

Im not too worried about the points as I'd rather go to the Bucco game being that there is a pennant race going on but figured I would share the info with everyone here.

I use the app on iOS jailbroken with an GPS spoofer, app never accessed the the GPS for the ticket scan.

How many people got free stuff last year for basically doing nothing? The nerve of some people. If you want the points buy some tickets or go buy some stuff at the CEC.

The ticket needs to be scanned by an usher when you enter the CEC to be activated. Then you have to scan it on Pens Points. I scanned it in the lobby and it didn't work this evening.

I must not be like you. I have supported the Pens for twenty years. I bought countless jerseys, apparel, and novilities. I go watch practices and attend a game every chance i get. Ive given alot of $ to the Pens organization over the last 20 years so yes i would like the PensPoints program to benifit more than season ticket holders; they are not the only fans that matter.

Really? Catering to the rich? I know season ticket holders that are common working guys/contractors, etc... that really enjoy spending their hard earned money on the Pens as a season ticket holder. I buy my tickets from a few different season ticket holders I know that can't make it to all the games. Last year we BIG TIME took advantage of the weaknesses in the Penspoints system. Myself, and my wife's twin daughters all got enough points to get Jerseys, my daughter made it to the Name and number player T shirt and my wifes son made it to the hat (he worked a lot of evenings). Heck, we even won two free tickets to a game at a Miller Lite night we were not even at. I appreciate that the Pens knew after a short period of time last year that many of us on LGP were cheating like HECK with this system and still paid us off on the items, even though we exploited loopholes.
We can still get free items this year as I have already purchased 6 games worth of tickets and plan to probably end up attending at least 10 to 15, plus playoffs. We get the radio/tv codes, and any other bonus codes they will give out.
To cry that they are catering to the rich sounds like sour grapes to me. That would be like a Casino giving out free meals and rooms as comps in the exact same amount to a guy playing penny slots as they would to a player in the high limit room playing $100 a hand, it just isn't going to happen. If you don't like it, stop spending so much money on lottery tickets, smokes and cheap beer and spend some money going to see the PENS play, it is money much better spent!

I've done the same as you the last 30 years. You can get points to earn stuff just not as fast as season ticket holders. I pay an extra couple grand for tickets why shouldn't I get some extra points. And believe me, I'm not rolling in the cash either. Join the Season Ticket waiting list, that's worth 100 points right there.

i had to close my app and restart it. AND LOOPHOLE THAT SOME PEOPLE HAVE FOUND: You can scan more than one ticket and it will give you 50 more points. I know of 2 people that it took points away from that did this but they bragged about it on twitter. But if you have 300+ pts after tonight pretty sure they are gonna check your account and stop the extra codes

Ha, I was wondering how long it would take for people to flip and pull the rich season ticket holder card. Pretty funny stuff. I suppose these people would rather there be no program at all and you get zero for doing anything? Is that the only way to keep you happy? You get everything or no one gets anything?

Pretend, for a second, that no tickets can get scanned, and you only get points for the radio/tv/special events...and there is no fancy gifts, just a tshirt and hat or something. Wouldn't most people say "nice small token from the pens to their fans?" Just look at it like that! You should get nothing, they owe you nothing...but you are getting something.

Then, once you have accepted that, realize that any REWARD PROGRAM is meant to REWARD actions and promote similar actions...like a hair cutting shop giving you a buy 10 get 1 free...they want you to get all of your haircuts (rewarding loyalty) at their store. If you go to more pens events like Miller Lite Night, should you not get more points for your effort and fandom? Sure, tickets are on a waiting list and expensive, but the same idea applies. More effort (time, money) for those season tickets = more reward = promoting those rewarding actions. Basic common sense principles here.

And screw those season hair cut appointment holders for getting all the free hair cuts...jerks.

Nah, if Obama ran Pens Points all the people who have never been to a game and occasionally watch on TV would get all the good prizes and they would make the Season Ticket holders buy it for them.

Well sports teams count on more than retail type dollars (or dollars directly paid into the" store"). Engaging fans of all levels is a big deal. The issue is its an app and that being mobile causing issues for tracking/fake points.

I personally could care less and never really get into the points. Just not something i do. Season ticket holders should get extra chances without a doubt. But I think it would good of them to figure out a way to engage more fans too without codes being posted on twitter. I mean whoever thought that wouldn't happen?

It's big business now to collect data and track sales, Giant Eagle mastered this technique about 1985. I work with companies that sell their soul to find out anything they can about their customers, it's also part of the reason Facebook keeps growing - I mean why do you think you need to log in with Facebook for so many sites now? Cause facebook sells you out, sells your demo info, then they know you, what you post and can market to you based on that.

So I could care less about this points program but if I were the Pens I would figure out a way to get non season holders involved. Not cause I care but because its big and solid business.
