He won't try to change it as long as Scuderi "gets to his game."

I guess Eaton or Niskanin will be missing from the line up since the Peice will be back.

Trade Niskanen to Saskatoon for all I care. Scuderi is the man! Can we get a future draft pick or cheap winger for nisky?

I approve. Scuderi is a winner and we seem to have a lack of them right now.

So glad to have him back on the team. He's a guy who can play solid anywhere with no system in place.

So, with Scuderi back we now have 20 players under contract and about 750k in cap space remaining. Generally, teams go into the season with 23 players on the active roster. However, according to NHL.com, the minimum roster is 20 players, composed of 18 skaters and two goaltenders.

Any chance we go with maybe 21 or 22 players to save against the cap? That seems risky, but as it stands right now we can only afford 1 more contract. Looks like someone is going to have to be moved before the start of the season.

Do you think Scuderi will be partnered with Letang? LA had him paired with Doughty.

I'd imagine you'll see them together a lot. Scuds could should see some time with Despres as well.

Not counting last year where it was a weird cap year, Pens usually run with 21 but more often with 22.

They don't need to cap it at 23 and they won't.

So what are the pairings right now? Orpik-Martin, Scuderi-Letang, Niskanen-Despres (Engelland, Bortuzzo)? And since they pretty much have to trade somebody now, and everybody here thinks it will be Niskanen, then the bottom pairing becomes Despres and either Engelland or Bortuzzo?

If I'm not mistaken Scuds is now the only current Pen with two Stanley Cup rings. You know what they say:

Niskanen for some minor league guys exempt from waivers to fight for the last few spots with Zolnerchk and Jeffrey. Then call it a summer as save as much cap space possible to make MINOR moves next year to get some DEPTH. Despres, Bortuzzo and Engellend platooned on 3rd pair works.
