A/B Testing

Postby pcm on Tue Jun 11, 2013 12:17 pm

There are already a few threads on offseason plans, but I see a lot of either-or roster choices coming up for Shero, that I think would make a good thread. Obviously some of these players already have contracts and so the decision will likely be made by default.

So assuming a relatively similar contract, but knowing Shero can't keep both, who would you rather Shero keep on the team?

Dupuis or Iginla

Cooke or Morrow

Niskanen or Murray

Adams or Glass
(Adams would sign for less)

Kennedy or Jokinen

Dupuis or Kunitz

Engelland or Eaton

Crosby or Malkin
(Ha, just kidding)

If we're looking at this in a one year only type vacuum:

Considering the only ones listed that have speed are Nisky and Kennedy (and 34 year legs of Dupuis), there aren't many combos that are going to have speed given the parameters of the thread.

I didn't see team speed as an issue, when they were getting swept.

Iginla if on his correct wing. Dupuis if not. Comes down to cost as well. However, I would save money on both of them and take a run at Clarkeson if i thought we had a chance, but I'm sure NJ will lock him up.

Slight edge for Morrow, only because of the amount of phantom calls Cooke gets. I'd be ok with either or both. They both played with heart during the playoffs.

Murray or neither. Depends on cost with Murray. Definitely liked his hitting ability, but speed issues were evident against some of the faster guys in the playoffs.

Adams or Glass or neither. Not sure how much longer Adams will have the wheels to make it. Vitale can take either of their places.

Jokinen, more versatile then 48, but less speed. Will miss 48's tenacity but won't miss him shooting over the net from the circle.......

Kunitz due to physicality.

Engelland, for the little ice time either would get I'd rather have a physical presence out there. At least either he or Glass will remain on the team and #5 is cheaper.
