What if #Jagrwatch ended in Pittsburgh?

Postby wondermoose on Sat Jun 08, 2013 1:39 pm

Hindsight is 20/20, but what would have happened if Ray Shero had decided Jaromir Jagr was worth another million bucks two summers ago? Would the Flyers had even made the playoffs last year? In particular, would Claude Giroux even become anything more than a footnote on the season? And, of course, what happens in this series if Jagr isn't there to bury the dagger in Game 3? I look back and remember how people were so concerned about his cancerous personality. I didn't feel like it would be an issue, but now it's almost comical considering how many wonderful things *every* single teammate has had to say about him.

Now, the question begins: is Jaromir Jagr worth pursuing this offseason for a little guidance for our stars who have apparently lost their way? Or at least so that he doesn't end up with another team we might see in the playoffs?

wouldn't have mattered. Outplayed pretty badly. Jagr is not nearly the factor we think he is.

That bridge is in a scrap yard somewhere rusting.

Well one thing for sure, Three Rivers casino would be doing a lot better. :pop:

Seriously? It's not that simple.

Plus, getting Jagr in 2011 /= Jagr in his prime.

You can't just add Jagrs production numbers to our stats and declare victory. Hell, I'm not even sure that we'd have gotten past the Islanders with JJ.

I'm starting to see how his value as a player isn't measured by stats though. He's brought an attitude and calmness to the teams he has played for in the playoffs the past two years.

I think Jagr would have helped the Pens power play and he has to be loving life right now knowing he stiffed Lemieux two years ago and now kicked the Pens to the curb for two straight playoff series.

Really? You think he hates Mario? That's not what he says in public.

Because a real coach understood his potential and used him the way he should have been used.

Yup.

If Jagr was on this team, Teflon Dan would pair him with Niskanen on defense.
