As the Twitter box kindly alerted us, WBS signed five players to AHL contracts (
http://t.co/KdPMMAOj) - Tangradi, Strait, Bortuzzo, Zatkoff, and Thiessen. These players were already under contract with the Penguins and I'm fairly certain they were all one two-way deals as well. Did they have to sign explicit AHL contracts in order to play while the NHL is locked out?

Until the lockout is over... then the anti-Big Dog crowd here will be unhappy.

It won't last. The first time he does something
very noticably good, all of them will claim they supported him from the beginning.

Will Tangradi ever score 20 goals in a season?

In the AHL yes, in the NHL I doubt he will have 20 goals in his career, before he moves on to his life's work.

I hope Tangradi turns it on and becomes a 25 goal a year player. But I refuse to apologize for having any doubt that it will happen.
I swear most of the people that support his impending leap to a top line player act like if you have any reason to doubt it you are
some player hating dolt who never watched hockey.
Whats next? GMRS is going to throw in Dupuis and Kennedy to close a deal for Bobby Ryan?

I'm interested in your opinion why this guy has any chance to get to 20 goals in his career? He doesn't seem have a shot capable of scoring from outside of 15 feet from the net, or the desire to score the tough goals inside.

There's certainly some potential in there...he has some hands, he has a big frame, he can get his shot working even if it's only on leverage alone to start with (I felt Malone had better hands than a shot too, more extreme examples, Tomas Holmstrom and Ryan Smyth can't/couldn't shoot at all)...more importantly (maybe), it looks like he might get a chance. Inside the Penguins organization, they believe in him. I don't know, I mean, he's nothing amazing, but I wouldn't ignore him or write him off completely. Sometimes I look for guys like that, those glue guys, that you just get the feeling that they can compliment a line...it's a shame Tangradi isn't a touch faster, but he can still grow into his body more...
20 goals in his career? That's rather bold, you must have some pretty convinced eyes to make that call. I'm here if you want to make it interesting, just let me know.

If he had top six forward potential, I would think he should have flashed some of that ability by now, even if only for a game or at least a period. His best chance to stick in this league is as a fourth line guy, but he hasn't shown the energy or determination to play that kind of roll. Bottom line is the "little dog" has his best chance at making the roster and contributing this year. If he doesn't get it done, unless he changes his game to a fourth line roll, then I don't see many organizations giving him a long look at the NHL level down the road. As for making it interesting, lets see if there is a NHL season first, then we can talk.

Sounds good, I've seen these flashes...he didn't get a chance at the NHL level and it wasn't necessarily his fault this time around (according to Bylsma). I'm not saying he's a stone cold lock, but he can play, people think they're looking at Shane Endicott for some reason here...

He actually looked fine in a fourth line role in the playoffs last year and was starting to use his size well. I haven't seen much scoring ability from him, but he can definitely play at the nhl level in a bottom six role at some point in his career. I'm not that high on tangradi, but I'm positive he will chip in at least 20 goals in the nhl (in his career, not per season). They probably won't be snipes, but you don't have to be a natural scorer to pot 20 in the nhl.
He's already got one off a defenseman's skate. 19 to go.

Its 20 goals. I wouldn't be surprised if he had that within the next two seasons.
