Also, get this. I sent a message to John Buccigross on twitter asking what he thought it would take to get Parise here with Crosby recruiting him. He said an 8 year, 55 million dollar deal. That's 6.875 million per season for you keeping score at home.

I know he's just taking a stab at it but it would sure be nice to land him for under 7 million per season.

Anyways... i wasn't looking for anything precise. I was just looking for a ballpark figure. Never thought he would break it down year by year for me and give me an exact cap hit. I actually shortened what he told me because he actually spelled out the salary for each year as well.

I've said it here before, but the direction Staal has decided to go the past year or two hasn't been what is best for the Pens. His defensive game has gotten worse and he was no longer fulfilling his "shutdown" label anymore. He's a terrific talent, but I think he's more replaceable now than the Cups years.

That said, Shero still needs to find someone to take up Staal's mantle as resident defensive forward. Gaustad please!

I agree. I think Jordan can be the shutdown center, maybe win a selke, but not at the expense of 2nd liner or 1st center. He hasn't to date , shown that he has the fast hands when planted in front of the net.
He was on the ice for 10 of the 12 power play flyer goals this past post season. I know, what he could he do about Flower ... but he gets the praise for PK , he has to take some of the blame.
From the 2006 training camp, I knew Jordan would make the team. No forward, save Sid, was better defensively. I'll miss the clutch play-off goals. He was quoted as saying that he put GM Shero in a tough situation and he most certainly did. He needs to thank Shero for doing it quickly and to the team of his choice.
If the russian center decided to maneuver and orchestrate his way out of Pittsburh, it wouldn't be as serene and peaceful.

Regardless of what B Sutter does for the PK, I think Evgeni and Sid, could be dynamic if also used on PK.

What about signing B.boyes for like 2 years @3 mil and a tootoo/prust type to replace asham. Then you don't have to worry about parise or ryan.

Yeah, me too, that's why I was thinking you get him a little cheaper than what he makes now, heck you might be able to get him for 2.5 or less, I don't know what his value is now and maybe he busts out playing with sid. I look at it like I'd rather pay boyes 3.0 mil, than have to watch sully again on sid's wing for 1.5.

To me, he should be offered enough money to make him one of the top paid players in the league. If he says no and takes less fine, but he deseves to be paid as much as anyone in the league. I have no problem with giving him the max.
